Anything that can keep a big chicken out could work. I improvised this a couple years ago

Once I make my permanent breeding area/grow-out area, I'm going to add one of those in, too. Now I have the cheap version (below)

That's what I did, just a rectangular area of 3' chicken wire held up by those green garden stakes along one wall of the run. Roof is that green plastic 1" stuff, that hangs across some sticks.tied to the stakes. It's inside my run, so doesn't need to be sturdy. I lean one stake out at the bottom next to the wall to let the littles in & out.

Thanks for the ideas. I have extra chicken wire, just wasn't sure how I wanted to "fashion" it...lol

I won't post pictures of what I'm using now - it's pretty ugly, but it works. (It was supposed to be temp for 1 batch - now the second is using it and we'll see if the broody babies hatch.)

Alcohol tends to remove the block to my natural sarcasm. Working 20 years in a Faith Based Hospital left me more scars on my tongue than I care to remember. [IMG]

This is inside the shed from the coop side. (while still under construction) The door has that 1" plastic mesh on it. When they are ready, I'll cut a hole in it small enough to keep the big ones out.
