She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

This turtle is new to us. It's a male painted turtle. He came home to keep my daughter's male map turtle company, and they get along great.

We also have a pair of red backed salamanders, and a dog who thinks everything is a potential delicacy.

I was on my way to the office (in Indianapolis) last week and came across a huge Blanding's turtle in the middle of the road. I stopped and helped her complete her crossing. She was probably 5 pounds and with a 10" carapace, which is fully mature. She looked ancient, and just gazed at me with a look resembling amusement while I looked her over then released her.

How precious!! The snapper I had was the size of a quarter when I found him in our yard. He took a wrong turn somewhere and ended up traveling away from water and not toward. I kept him about a year. He was a good size (compared to the peanut he was when I took him in,) when I took him to the river and released him. He was outgrowing meals of bugs and was getting harder to keep cleaned out and unsmelly, so it was time to release him. But my Toshia, Eastern Box, she was the best. My pal for 22 years. I thought she'd end up outliving me. I think she went into depression when I moved us back to this town. (Can't say I blame her...lol) Her houseing was the same and nothing like that changed, but she did.

I was sorry to loose her.

close B C M day 13 I think  I post pics.  of the fixture and bulb I'll used i can see the embryo on day 7 clearly and I like that I don't have to hold the light  and the egg

So I didn't get it specifically, but I was still right! Haha
I'll get to working on mine soon. I think I have all the materials collected. Stuff from work to scrounging around for stuff. No money involved yet. Would love to see more pics of yours for ideas.

Amy, I tried a test with kosher salt. No change other than a percent or two decrease. I used a 1/4 cup Tupperware measuring cup about half full. Will try some others later, maybe even some rice?

Rice is used for lowering humidity in incubators, but I had an epiphany today. As I was testing my (way off hygrometer) and making my salt slurry, I am wondering if you did that on a slightly bigger scale, small bowl instead of a little cap if that would do it. I had the salt in there for almost 24 hours with no change.

Well remember, that was my first thought, salty water or salt slurry, but then I realized that wouldn't leave much space to draw much more of the humidity. I think rice would draw it, like it does when you cook it, and you turn the burner off, and it continues to fluff up, but I wonder if dry rice would draw it fast enough to help anything. Actually, partially cooked rice might draw faster.. Oh goodness, something else to test lol
