She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

He's a blast. Awesome kid. Almost everybody loves him on contact. Most of the stores around here we go in, the cashiers just love seeing him come in cause he's such a social butterfly and he's so funny. He keeps everyone laughing. In one store, he took a plastic robot up to the counter and looks at the young cashier and says, "Excuse me, can you tell me if this has any articulation?" The look on her face was priceless. You could tell she didn't know what he ment. I had to explain. She and the lady ahead of us got a good laugh. He has a pretty good vocabulary. My boy is the best thing that ever happened to me.
Aw, haha! Kids are great, they are so funny.
A chick!

I candled a few tonight. I'm so bad, I didn't take pics because it was spur of be moment as I was turning. They all look perfect so far, spider veins in almost everyone. I can see through the Ameraucana eggs perfectly!

Aww that's such a pretty BCM, no wonder she wanted you to take a pic of it. Well, other than the main reason...
And the first one? Hard-boiled??

I wondered about that also, but I know my eggs came from 6 hens, so they might not be related... but I guess its still possible that 1 hen could have laid 2 of my chicks... So should I just not hatch any of them?

Hard yes boiled no it's a wooden egg from the hobby lobby my daughter painted it last night I asked her to do it looks so real I was amazed. she is a art major at MTSU. now lets talk about inbreeding Its not something I do as rule all birds & animal carry the DNA of their parents If your lucky you will come up with a nicer animal but in many cases Its proven to be a disaster the dwarf gene in black angus cattle Is the one that has haunted me the most. ever so often your are going to get a throwback or all the bad traits In one bird or flock . I'm sure that is why I have SLW's that lay odd shaped eggs that I can' sell .small in size . an long like a pullet egg would be but all the time . you think everything is great these are going to be the best yet .maybe they look beautiful but they are crazy or blind but their parent's are perfect not a flaw . but inside of them is a ticking time bomb and most likely will explode on me .this goes way beyond hatching. it's breeding at the hardest level .just remember that every thing that has every been done to that bird is in that DNA chain the good and the bad and at any time can come to the top. This is just my opinion why take the chance .find another breeder farther away. half across the country if need be order eggs an roll the dice. the ideal in breeding is to breed up not side ways. I have a SLW rooster that was the only chick that lived out of My first hatch last year the eggs came from some where up Walnut's way It was like $30 for the eggs And shipping which means with feed I have maybe a $100 in this bird I would have paid At least $50 without batting an eye for one If I could walk look at it full grown ready to breed. and I already see a better bird than I have now using only the best eggs from the bad hens .keep changing your rooster.I don't care what your hen's look like keep changing that roo for a better one breed to your old roos pullets breedup not sideways

They are easier to sex early, and pullets fly out the door at 8 weeks

You should probably fix that door

(Yes, obviously I know what you meant, but I couldn't resist... Been one of those days.)

Beautiful paint job!

Still do not know for sure how many eggs are under my turkey. I caught her up stretching yesterday morning and went in for a quick peek. Well she was quick to get back down and cover her eggs. But not before I noticed a problem. She has one chicken egg under her. I will be removing that later today. Maybe she will actually get off the nest, I do hate to bother her, and I am a hands off type of guy. I have eggs hatching Tuesday I have not seen since they went in the bator. I would not bother her except I do not want a chicken egg to hatch and her come off the nest and leave the turkey eggs way to early.
NEXT Point, we are #2 thread, come on guys we can do it.

This is one of the best threads on this site. Between the information and all the banter between everyone. I look forward to reading everything I have missed while working or sleeping. I sleep during the day while yall are giving me pages of info to read. It takes a while to catch up every day.

And to revisit my unfortunate happening this week, no other birds have been harmed. My bulldog still visits the coop and hangs out with my birds. The cocker does too, but I am watching her. If she is the issue she will just have to only be out under supervision. If something happens to her I will need a new house to live in, she is the wifes baby. I have a funny story just to drive home what I am saying.
So a couple years ago I had taken Elizabeth out to do her business. Well I left her out like we always do to give her time. Cristy goes to let her back in and she is not there. Before talking to me or trying to figure anything out, she comes unglued. I mean balling and sobbing. She told me Elizabeth was gone, she had run away or someone had stolen her. This went on for a while, I will save you the rest of this part. Well turns out Elizabeth had went under the house and could not get back out. I could have saved a lot of trouble if she would have just asked me if I knew anything. I heard her under the house when she was outside calling her, but guys you know how women can be when they get on a roll. So I being the man swooped in to save the day. So as you can see if there is a problem with her and the chickens the chickens and or myself will be seeking residence elsewhere.
SC whats up my brother, I am typing this and throwing the boat rods in the 2500 and heading for blue water. Gonna see if we can get on some mahi and grouper today. Give you a report later. Been slammimg the last couple weeks.
Yall keep straight out there now you hear.
