She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

I'm going to be checking up much less frequently for the next week...PM me and I might see it (I give up in advance on catching up in this thread).

Oh that's right you said you were gonna be gone. I'll try not to bother you unless I just can't get it. Thanks!

It really is that big.  It's crazy.  It would be cool to hatch two full size turkey poults, though.

That would be soooo awesome!

Brinsea would have incapacitated them and held them until the cops got there :old

Hahahahaha! I wish my phone had the cool BYC emoticons!! That was funny!

Nope, hasn't even made the pip bigger (but the loose shell pieces are off so you can see him/her moving and hear pipping.)  It's just sitting in there chilling. I'm predicting at least 4 more pippers before bed tonight..... I'd like to see another hatcher, but I have a feeling my one little chick is going to be lonely for a bit before it gets a friend. No one else has pipped yet...lol

Do you still get super excited after doing so many hatches?? I hope that it never gets old!! I'm on cloud 9 during hatch!! Report after you get some more action!!

I moved my 6/11 turkey hatch to the hatcher.   I candled quickly and marked the dip.  All pips should happen on the top.  The egg front and center is the 152g probably twins egg.  I still can't see what's where, but it's full, unlike the other two jumbo eggs which have a lot of albumen still showing and will be wet poults.

The challenge:  I won't be home until the night of the 11th, and there's no one here who has experience with hatching.  And my hatches have been running a day early, so whatever will happen, will probably happen while I am not home.  I'll have to watch on webcam just like you.

I can advise my assistants to add water if I see the instruments indicate it's needed.

There is one egg off screen, it's the one that was stuck to the rail.  Ambient humidity is down to 18% here most days, and hatching in my cabinet has had very low success as the fan dries them out as they are trying to zip no matter how much water I pump into the air.  But even with running warm water over the egg for about 15 minutes, it still lost a good chunk of shell (about 10%) to the turner.  I put it into an egg cup and I'm crossing my fingers to see how it goes.

Now I get to watch turkeys hatch!!! So cool, I've never seen that before! Way better then TV, Walnut!! Thanks again!

Lol..guess I better sell some chicks huh? I just wouldn't be able to justify the price..especially since I like to set lots of eggs..I really need to sit down and plan out a good cabinet and then use these 2 LGs as hatchers.. but I have to say..I'm proud of my El cheapos.. I'm in WV and had 30 eggs shipped from FL..got a hatch of 23 chicks out of 26 eggs that made it to lock down..have far less luck with my Polish but I swear they are more fragile and shipping is a lot harder on them for some reason?? Just a guess of course, but that's my experience. .
I think I just have a sore spot with Brinsea..especially those brooders..I can make the same thing with a dollar store heating pad and scrap wire and my chicks love them ..and I'm not out $100 if it takes a crap..

Even I can't justify paying for the brooder heater. I saw it and I thought it was cool..."I wanna get that"....saw the price & "I totally don't need that"!

The blue is a true color and isn't diluted.  If you have a medium green egg layer, and cross it with white egg layer for a couple of generations, you'll get an egg approaching the original pale blue, but with the faintest tingle of green.  The brown isn't actually a shell color, it's like a stain that is applied over the white or blue shell.  Scrub a green egg and a brown egg and see what happens.

Conversely, take a green egg layer and cross with a BCM and you'll get a dark olive.

Dark olive sounds beautiful!
