You disappeared right after I posted that. I was afraid I had offended you, but it was too appropriate to take down. I'm glad you saw the humor in it

I had to take care of kiddos! Make lunch, let my chickens out to free range a bit, clean up, talk to a neighbor who was not there so I have to go back. I had to be a mommy for awhile. but its nap time now. LoL!! I dont easily get offended.

OMG! This is nerve wracking! He was peeping like crazy when I played the music, like non-stop but no movement. I pulled the shell very gently to seperate the membrane. Because the shell was cracked but a lot of the membrane was not. There was no veining. He pushed out!!! He's okay!!! Yikes!
Hey Ruby, your AWOL is back...

Thanks guys! I'm team purple. I don't want to over-meddle but I don't want to be 100% hands off, if I can save a chick without doing more harm then good. I talk to one of the BYCers, that's on this thread sometimes. And she warned me awhile back that sometimes silkies may need just a little extra help because they can be breed to have very vaulted skulls. This little one was going to town. I almost marked down that he hatched because I thought for sure it would have been any minute around noon. Then I noticed he stopped all together. By 12:37, he had made no more progress and was not moving but chirping a lot at the music. So I just gave him a small push, he did the rest. And guess what? He's got a big fat vaulted skull! Maybe he would have done it on his own but if he didnt make it, I would have not been able to forgive myself!

Yeah team purple!

I lost my only little Polish to hatch tooo two days ago. It makes me so sad. I know your pain. I did not have a chance to pick up a couple day old chicks to put with it. For that I am thankful but I would like to get some FBCM and maybe another Americauna.

So sorry about your polish. I know I read your original mention of it a while back, but I overlooked saying I'm sorry. What happened to it? Good luck with the new chicks!
And please don't take this as critical, or anything personal, but I have to ask... FBCM... I read something about the F. French Black Copper Marans, right? Something to the point that they are all French, so adding the F is unnecessary?? I really don't remember the extent of it. I do remember thinking the comment was a bit petty. But I didn't ask. So now I'm asking. Is there a difference between BCM and FBCM?

So I opened the one incubator that had just 2 chicks, to take them out and put them in the brooder. The other 5 eggs in there have not pipped yet. I candled real quick and saw no movement. Can you see movement this far along if they are alive? I have a feeling they're all goners. We will see....
