Has anyone hired someone in to caponize? Any suggestions how to find someone like that (I am in Canada, so CL is not really an option).
I would like to know this as well. Maybe CL is an option (for me)??

I think I have a quitter with one of my pea eggs. I noticed the other day that the veins were starting to recede from the air cell but I still saw movement in the egg. Now the veins have totally disappeared and the fluid in the egg seems yellow. Also when I move the egg I can see the chick sloshing around but no intentional movement from the chick. Is it a goner? Should I take it out now or wait till lockdown?

sounds like it did you do the silica to lower your humidity . If it didn't work put your incubator as close to your central air unit as you can get it. if you have one that is. you can wait till you lock down to take it out how much longer till hatch.
Ruby, I am using my own eggs while incubating, so no cost to me if I cull one, but in order to learn what I am seeing I have taken an egg and cracked it if I think its done...only way to know for sure. I am learning that I have to learn what I am seeing when I am candling or the whole idea of candling becomes useless. It is easy to make a blob move in an egg if you can spin it...so, you have to have it still, and see it move, and if you can see it move, you can see a heart beat if you wait long enough. If you can see a heart beat, its alive...veins don't matter...or matter less.
Hey, camera buffs...question for you. I'd like to get photos of each of my birds, but by myself its hard to hold them let alone use 2 hands to take the pic with my camera phone (which sucks anyway). So, what's cheap, doesn't require 2 hands to get a focused picture (as in it auto focuses and doesn't need me to press a little for it to focus, then press some more), and can take a bunch of pictures quickly (so I can pick the one where the chick isn't flapping its wings or turned away from the camera). It also needs a flash that can keep up with the picture taking. The Canon EOS Rebel T5 seems to have all the features I want, but up here its C$400, just wondered if anyone can think of a cheaper one??
I can't see it move when I am holding it still. I know exactly what you mean! I really would like to gain as much experience as possible and I am wanting to crack it open. But I have this fear that what if I'm wrong and I kill the poor thing! My gut is telling me that it just does not look normal!
