She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

I love that you had to add the "as in chickens" :gig
I don't really see what he has that could be white and fluffy?????
Sorry that I'm bumping this, but I need help quickly.
You already got help.....
Lol, DH brought me coffee in bed with a card and I'm shaking off an ambien hangover. Supposed to be pretty hot here today. Will catch up with all the news this afternoon. Congrats to all the hatchers and glad those eggs showed up Ruby!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes everyone! You guys are great. :hugs Ps: got my replacement dive knife on eBay last night. Should get it next week!
See above!!
@RavynFallen Wow just wow. This is how to ship eggs every body. These eggs are pristine. Only one air sac has a slight wobble and are all tiny. I can't see anything in the marans though. I am so happy, I welled up just a little while unpacking them. I just can't praise Ravyn enough. Thank you so much.

Just beautiful. They all felt cool to touch. They will sit on kitchen counter until I set them in the incubator tomorrow morning. I am absolutely amazed by the brilliant packaging and not one detached air cell. Bloody marvelous!
So glad!!!!!
Did you wait the full 24 hours to set if the air cells looked great or did you set them sooner?
I wait a full 24 hours then I do not turn for the first 5 days.
Not comparing to the packing above (because it looks awesome), but all this talk about packing reminded me that I was going to post this packaging for SC reference. Here is how my EE eggs showed up. No stickers on the box (my request) and we had a great hatch with them. Eggs shipped 1,300 miles from sea level to 5,000 ft elevation. Hatched 11 out of 14. Shredded paper, box within a box. Individual bubble wrap. Eggs are stacked in every direction and not big side up. I thought I liked big side up, but after this batch I really don't care.
That looks great!!! Just like chicapee.
I will be game for the Great Egg Shipathon this spring too. @RubyNala97 Let me know what time you will set and I will synchronize mine too.
I want in on this too!!! I will have crested cream legbars to hatch then..
I'm up for the Shipathon. I think Ruby and I are both setting at 9 tonight
I am 5 days ahead of you guys...but close enough.
Sorry, they delete all swear words. :gig
Mine just stars out the curse words....lol!!!

The one on the floor calibrated exactly with my candy thermometer so I am confident its more accurate than the one on the lid. Didnt even think to grab an aquarium thermometer. I heard reptile thermometer is pretty accurate as well.

most reptile thermometers are not since they are cold blooded temp. swings will not hurt them as much 2 degrees higher will send guppies into a breeding frenzy 5 degrees higher will kill them.I use mine to calibrate all my others but ck . them with ice bath every once in awhile have you calibrated your candy thermometer with the ice water bath lately if not hers how fill a glass with crushed ice and water wait a min. or two put the probe in the ice water in a min. it should read 32 degrees .you will have a good first hatch .you have the best duck brains on the byc at your side I don't do ducks but they do.

SC, are your silkies all white? What is their quality?

Pet quality. I still get some with odd looking little single combs. Even Fabio's comb isn't as good as it should be. He has thrown some stunning roosters, but he is a pet, and won't be replaced until he dies. Some are hatched with partially missing toes, and none are bearded. I only sell them as pets. If something ever happens to Fabio, I may start over with some SQ bearded silkies, but he's a mama's boy

Careful, young lady, that almost sounded like a dare...

Don't know why it won't quote the part I want to reply to, but the raised brooder absolutely, 100% makes a huge difference. I started brooding the days olds in the house with the brooder on a table, and there was so much difference that I raised all my outside brooders up 3 feet. Now when I walk out to the brooders and squat down, half of them will run to the door. As they start feathering out, they get a little more skittish, but there are always a few that stay pretty tame. The plate heater is so much better at keeping them calm than the light, though I will still use the light for large broods

What kind of plate heater do you use?

Ok. I want some bearded SQ.

Ross, He may not, but he'd find some ridiculous joke in reply.
