Well, this makes me feel pretty bad for #13.
#13 was my assisted hatch. I thought it needed an AH due to shrinkwrap b/c of the faulty humidity gauge. Ended up it was a fairly moderate splay leg. He could walk, but was really off balance. We did our best with the bandaids, closing the gap a little every day. Separated him with one other chick to keep him company and checked his progress daily. He was very loud and woke me cheeping multiple times a night. Just wanted attention, I guess, he was warm, and fed and watered when I would check on him. He was precious, but the gap between his legs seemed to be getting wider each day when we changed the bandaids out. We continued to lessen the gap a little every day and he got around just okay with it on, but when we would take it off, he could barely stand. Yesterday afternoon, we found him face down in the feed. :/ He was gone.
I even cut small holes in glad ware type lids to prevent him from drowning in the feed, but it didn't work. I feel just awful still.
Anyhow, that's why I have been thinking blue lately. Makes me feel selfish, but we really did all we could possibly do and he still didn't make it.
