She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

I've got the thing I've been needing to make me sure that this is the right man. My buddy was right . Monday morning I was back at this place looking for my trailer . and like every other time not there . I drove around the block checked it out and pulled in. I talked to the builder asked him if he knew the thief . but he didn't a told him the log was on my trailer when it was stolen. he was wondering why who ever lost the log had not come back for it . I'm sure it's the right man and I sure my trailer is not at his house . now I'm trying to figure out what to do next . I start trying to think like a thief what I do . I'm thinking this man is not that smart so It shouldn't be that hard to figure out. If he still has it where did he hide it ? does he have another place

. how do I find out . first impulse was wrong .I called the electric and water companies and asked them . they said not without a court order .that stunk . so once again I called a friend . the same friend who went and looked at the truck . He had told me once about searching county tax records to find property owners. I was once again amazed by my friend he told me all I had to do was call the tax office and ask If he was paying taxes on more property . never new how easy it is to do a title search . I started in the county he lived in and came up empty . next I called every county around the county he lived in .got an answer form all but one and the answer was no. this was on Wednesday .the one county that did not answer was closed for a high school football game . I thinking I'm going to have to follow this guy is the only way to find my trailer . not so excited now . Thursday morning back to work down in the dumps feeling like another dead end break for lunch and try the one county again that was closed the day before told them the name and hit gold . the said yes an the tax bill is mailed to the address that the truck is registered to but the first name is different . she told me the property address and how to find it .so I left work and drove eight miles there to try and find it . looked until dark at the wrong end of the road never found it . worked Friday morning and left early enough to get to the tax office before they closed . when I told the ladies there my story they gave me everything the tax records a copy of the deed a plot of the property . and they wished me good luck. so now I'm off and running again . you know as smart as I am I still could not find it . but it was dark and there were no numbers on the mail box . I went home and called my brothers and filled them in . let me back track a little . on Thursday when I found out about this farm I called the detective who was working my case and told him the address and asked him to check it out he said he would call the county sheriff's department and asked them to do it .bare in mind that I had kept him informed all along what I was doing . I'm behind on the current job so I had to work Saturday morning but brother Ron and I had made plans to go back that afternoon to try again . besides they wanted in on the excitement . everyone new I was close . we get there an hour before dark find the land . figure out what we're going to do . no there is a large barn close to the house but can't go in in the daylight . so we have to wait for dark. in the mean time we decide to come in from the back .

Oh good grief man! You are killing me!!

So the probe end is too light to be dangled straight down? The split shot may work, but I like lazy gardner's idea of taping another "bendy" wire to it. From the picture, I just can't believe that that wire can't be shaped enough on it's own to hang straight down, though...

I think when it was new it probably could've been, but it's an older 1 that came with the incubator when I got it used.

Got the same model. Nope. Can't! It's totally flaccid. But it maintains just enough kink from where it was coiled in shipping to be a total nuisance. Beware. I have several of the same model, and they don't read the same. So... no matter how much you spend, you GOTTA calibrate. This one is a pain to calibrate b/c it can't be immersed. So, that's an other reason why I calibrate with a medical thermometer and an other bulb at 100*, then I can calibrate this model from that. The one thing I like about this model is it records high/lows. And it's easy to read from a distance. An other trick I use with this model is to tie a real long piece of dental floss around the wire just above the probe, so the probe is in the middle of the dental floss, with a long piece on either side. Then, the probe can be put through your middle hole, with the floss dangling out from the right and left sides of the top. It's then very easy to move the probe all over inside the bator without opening it by pulling on one side or the other. Can spot check temps everywhere that way.

I was having trouble envisioning what the probe actually looks like. If that's it in the pic, why not just cut off one of those shis-kabob stick thingies to the length you need & tape it to the wire?

I was thinking along those same lines. What about a metal shirt hanger? Clip a piece about 8 inches long and bend it into an "L". Tape the probe to the wire, then just let the hanger hold it in place

I wish I had asked you what to get before I ordered my new 1, lol. I ordered the same model cause people said they were so good. I ordered a new 1 cause on this 1 the hygrometer part is whacked out, don't know what's wrong with it, buts it's definitely not right but the thermometer on it is dead on with my meat thermo that I calibrated and found out is about 1° off. So I use this for temp and have an Accurite inside the bator for my humidity. The thermo on that though is WAY off, by about 8° or more. So I have 2 combos and only 1 feature works on both, lol.
