She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

So I'm thinking of ordering this fan kit I saw on ebay, it's got blue LED's in it so it lights the bator up inside, does anybody have any opinions on lights in the bator, whether it will help or hinder the hatch or just not make a difference at all? I thought it looked really cool and it'll give me light to help see the eggs inside. They come with white, blue or red LED'S, I liked the blue the best.

I think a light would be nice. Walnut may have mentioned something about light helping the hatch, but I can't remember. I would add a white LED in a heartbeat. That would be nice.

What ever happens to be in the nesting box when I get the Styrofoam ready, lol. It could be a wide variety from mix to pure breed. I'll post it when I pull them.
Awesome, good luck! I wish I had eggs in the nesting box, lol, all of mine are still too young to lay. I can't wait til I can hatch my own eggs. I'm going to be in BIG trouble when they start laying!!! I'll be hatching eggs every 3 weeks!! I'm going to tell my husband "Practice makes perfect!! Thats why I need to keep continuously incubating." I don't know if he'll buy that story or not though, lol.

His balance is WAY off. He falls and stumbles alot. When I came back in from feeding the big kids he was on his back and couldn't flip back over. He's not star gazing or spinning, the moon walking I'm not sure about, what's that look like?
Moon walking is my definition for when they tuck their head down, sometimes between their legs and start walking or running backwards, and usually don't stop till they bump into something. I have a couple of full grown hens that do it mildly on occasion, usually when they are under some physical stress. They'll be culled before spring hatching.

My rooster does that because of his crow collar!! :lau

Narcoleptic Nancy made me think about our "Clint", our rooster who is now about 6 months old...he always seemed to trip over stuff when he was young but I didn't really think a lot about it because he was being hand raised indoors to accompany a sister who was stepped on and had a broken leg. I'll try to make a long story short...she didn't make it

so we gradually re-introduced "Clint" back into the flock. Once we decided to start letting him spend his nights in the coop again (mostly because that crazy rooster started crowing at a week old..

.yes I said a week old!), I had to pick him up every evening and put him on the roost and set him down every morning. That worked itself out within a couple of weeks but I noticed that he ran into stuff a lot and tripped over stuff often! Sometimes he moonwalks as well. As he got older, he even did his little "rooster dance" (that is normally reserved for a "pretty hen" around me, my husband, my kids...even a basket ball! He eats and drinks fine (but doesn't forage much from what I've seen), and now gets on and off of the roost at night. He obviously can see because he attacks our dogs anytime they are close enough so I'm not sure what is "wrong" with him... we just say he is one crazy chicken lol. He'll probably never be our "best" rooster lol but he's certainly my kids favorite. He'll let anyone pick him up! He even rides the mower with me on occasion!

And now that I'm thinking about it, I just recently hatched 4 BLRW's and one of those was so clumsy for the first 2 or 3 days, I was sure there was something wrong, a bad leg or something...but she's running around perfectly healthy now!

Best wishes for yours!

Oh my 3 days of posts finally caught up. Congratulations to all the hatches. Best wishes to every one who is in lock down.
I woke up this morning to find the turkeys in with the pullets and a couple of the pullets in the grow out pen. They were just all visiting each other. When I went to put the lo's to bed, they don't go into the coop on there own yet at night. The bigger ones intimidate them a bit. Getting a taste of their own medicine. Any way it was really dark and there is a connecting door between the laying pen to the grow out pen and I didn't latch it properly last night. Needless to say they all made themselves at home. The turkeys didn't want to go back with the juveniles this morning. It was fun getting them to go home. Crazy morning.
