I might wait and sell with you . really want to stop being a chicken slave . some day I need to get better at this. after dw watered the chickens for me the last time she realized how long it takes to take care of them . and then you add coop and brooder building to that . super cleaned the SLW and EE coop today. almost got the run cleaned . I'll finish first thing tomorrow and put in fresh dirt . that sounds like a hard road trip . hate those kind .

yep unless you got one like SWs better fire up the LG Amy .Hi Ravyn

I'm real close to making my green belt . just on chicken money.

I might sell some more this weekend . you ready.
I was wondering if I should have at least a brooder set up just in case she doesn't turn out to be as good of a mommy as I think she's going to be.

The easy part I'm talking about is after the hatch... no need to worry about heat, a brooder box, grow out pen, integrating and all that...

Now go sit on your hands!!

That would be/will be great if everything goes smooth. It's scary when you hear stories about momma chicks not be good mommas or other hens attacking babies.... If I sit on my hands I can't type...

lol

Amy, do you recall the advice that I gave to Megan when she went into lock down at her last hatch? I'm giving you the same advice. Step away from the broody. Go to your chair, and assume the position.
I'm trying....I'm determined to.... lol

If they don't leave the nest before all the eggs hatch they will be a good at brooding the brood . instinct is dialed in . I've often wondered if a incubator hatched hen is affected by that when it comes to brooding . I have not had a good broody in years .the last one I had was one that hatched under a good broody . and she was a good broody. the hens I have now don't like it when I put eggs under them. when I do they change nest .

All my gals that went broody this year were all feed store purchases, mass supplied. Maybe it's just the attitude of your girls? If it's any help my broodies are of four different breeds, maran, Chantecleer, faverole, and susex.

Next couple of days are going to be really hard for me! When I locked up the coops tonight and closed up my banty's "cage" I did a quick candle. One chick has internally pipped, one was trying like the devil to pip and the other was just hanging out. Tomorrow is day 20. Now I have to go into blue mode and not sure I can handle it.....lol Hope the next couple of days go by quickly.

I have a badge, so I can do this.
Just dropped in to say:
