She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Was getting ready for bed last night and heard peeping... opened the bator and found this... totally forgot about the Silkie egg from the quitter broody, lol...

Hatched out perfectly in the turner at 25% humidity...

That is cool as **** that it hatched without raising humidity or even taking it off the turner.

How could you have forgotten that sweet little cutie? :D

Just Adorable! I am hoping to get to hatch some silkies next spring!

Thanks... took about 20 pics to get a decent one... it was like Gizmo with the camera flash...

I had no idea how far along it was... I dunno where she had that egg tucked at but I missed it til it was well into developing... so I popped it in the bator and was gonna set her up in a broody box and she quit brooding... it was the only egg at whatever stage it was at, lol...

Ya gotta name it "Lonesome"

Not naming another chick or duck for a long time... anytime I name one something happens to it... :(

The batch of EE babies I was photographing in the spring would poop when the flash went off. I had to flash each one on a piece of paper, then put them on the stage for the real pic and shoot fast before they figured out what was going on.

Cool how they take ones in that don't even belong to them. Wonder if the "real" momma hens will know that a chick belongs to them as the little ones get older. :D

That's interesting, I wonder...

All three of them are doing great! They each have different personalities. One is the brave explorer, one is a momma's whine butt and the other is right in between those two personalities...lol I suppose they do and can. I've only ever had one case in my second hatch and that was more extreme diarrhea than anything.

Aww, so sweet. I was just wondering because I've never had a broody and the only time I get to see them in person is at my neighbors and I'm surprised any of his animals are alive! I went there today and his truck was there but I couldn't find him anywhere...his last broody only has one chick left, all the others have been picked off by predators and the poor little chick was locked in the call duck enclosure! I'm sure it was an accident but that enclosure is his fav and I didn't want any of the young calls to get out, I tried to open the door just enough to fit my arm through and the chick ran away from me! I kept thinking about it getting cold or falling into the pool or the others being mean to it (there are 4 pheasants in that enclosure too). Poor little guy just kept crying for mama! Not sure how I got off on that tangent...

Oh my goodness! So cute! That's incredible. Love the story! Welcome to the world little guy!

I don't name any of mine. And this is the reason. I keep hearing that your favorite ones are always the ones to get attacked by predators. So sad. :(
