No problem at all with the pump...........

I knew I'd be fighting it most of the year, except for July/August when the monsoons come. Probably not worth it in a lot of the country - unless you hatch in the winter and don't run a humidifier.

I told her that was my biggest complaint with the Brinsea, lockdown humidity. I can fix it down here with a paper towel, but I could see it being drier up there, and running the heater in the house more
The winters do suck for humidity because of heaters. I can run completely dry in the spring-fall and keep it at least 30%, winter is 16% completely dry. A sponge keeps it nicely at 30% though.

So why not pick up a styro Hova for a hatcher? Cheap and easier to keep humidity up for 3 days...
That's what we were talking about yesterday, her using a styro bator for lockdown-hatch.

My toughest time of year is right now. It will hold 65% with the paper towel, but the water from day 18 will be gone by the end of day 21. I add it with a straw through the vent.

Se was cussing it out yesterday!!

:hugs  He was so cute. :hit    Maybe something wrong with the digestive system or the excess fluid passing?? So sorry to hear it. So glad you're here!! I was missing ya!

:hugs  cause you need another.

Thank you, Amy. Nice to see you on the thread again! :hugs

I'm actually really considering this. Which model would you recommend? Is it still air? I read somewhere that still air is better for hatch time, so I'm just curious.

Best Hova out there is the Genesis 1588, but that will set you back approx 150, no matter how you slice it...

Otherwise, I would go with the 1602n, it's still air and between 40-50 bucks depending on where you find it...

The big thing is that temps aren't as critical for the last 3 days as they are for the first 18... you don't want a spike, but a little low is ok at that point...

ETA: and still air is better if you need to assist, otherwise if you leave it closed the whole time a fan is fine in a hatcher...

Mine has a fan and we know how well I leave mine closed at hatch.

lol

I've had my eye on the 1583 Hovabtor. It's a bit cheaper than the 1588, because it's not all digital thermostat and all but has the same picture window. I want the picture window...lol
