She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Yes. It was me.

I have a wine cooler I am going to make an incubator out of.
I would love to get ahold of a wine cooler.

Do you have a link for your BrinZea build? Someone was asking about building one yesterday, I think Bert
Here it is. I hope it's helpful. I think Walnut said the Flexwatt uses a lot of power, but I like the even heating compared to a bulb. Let me know if I can help with any questions.

I have added a fan since. I put it right in the middle of the heating element and it blows the air up into the heating element. I used a computer fan and a cellphone charger.

ETA: I also changed the thermostat out for a STC-1000 my temp swings are smaller now. I need to update that post

Can a hen lay 2 eggs in one day? I have one hen that does not use the nest box (all the others do). She's found a spot in the run and she was there today and I found 2 eggs! I think they are both hers but I suppose another pullet could have started but they were both normal size, so

No, Flexwatt is very low wattage per surface area.  It would be GREAT for a brooder plate heater.  It's a challenge for a really small incubator as it would be hard to get enough wattage.  But cooler size or bigger would be good, very gradual and gentle heating.

We were just looking up alternatives for providing just a little heat in the coop for my little ones. Looking at panels and tape and such.

Could the heat tape be attached underneath the coop, like sub flooring heat tape, and actually radiate through the wood? I think its just thin plywood.

It is possible, I think I've had it happen once or twice in the last 8 months.

I would not.  The risk of a fire under the floor is too great.  I'd suspend the heat.  Under desk panel heaters look like a safe alternative if UL listed and okay for mounting horizontally.  But put a shield over it to prevent roosting and pooping on it.

Ok thanks a bunch! I saw some of those panel heaters. Might go that route.

I may need to get some eggs from you sooner!!!

Have you looked into the sweater heater? It's infrared heating and has excellent reviews. A local silkie breeder near me swears by them. I was going to get one but then our winter was extremely mild (until now) but I will be getting one by next winter.

2 eggs huh. It must have been her!

Let me know! I only have 4 girls laying but I'm getting about 3-4 eggs a day and I need a break from hatching till spring!
