Ruby, I just tagged you at the frog. When do silkies average starting to lay?

I'm up to about 6 pips, I think. I'm ready for the popcorn!!!!
The one I hatched and raised was like 20-22 weeks I think before she laid. I am sure it was over 20 weeks. The other three my sister gave me and they were laying when I got them.

Hmmm does that tell you anything?

That sounds about right. 22-24 average for me, and they are usually brooding within the first 6 weeks after laying. Then the never stop, they just hatch, raise them for a few weeks, rub up against Fabio, and do it again. And again. And again...

It's funny because my first coop with my original flock of 6 I hatched out Novemeber 2014, plus the three silkies I took off my sister and not a single one of them has ever gone broody. The second coop comprised of last years Easter hatch and my summer pullet hatch plust the three October brooder babies (24 total) are the broodiest hens. It seems like I constantly have one that wants to be broody. None silkies though they want know part of sitting.
