All 6 poults have hatched. Several chicks too, including a loan grand baby of ours clb, when it dries need to figure out whether it is a he or a she. I am leaning towards he. It was her first egg. She only laid 3 then got sick. Doing much better today, eating, drinking and standing on her own.

Congrats!
I labeled mine syrup in glass, and there were a bunch of broken eggs.
There goes that theory, huh?

Hello!

First time hatcher here and just fired up my Hova-Bator 1602N. It came with the turner (bought on CL) and then I bought the fan kit on Amazon. I've been following this thread off and on a bit so I thought I would post here. I set 20 eggs total -12 of mine (the ones I set will be Olive Eggers and Marans/Wellie crosses and 8 from a lady I got chicks from last spring (pure Marans, I didn't want to set mine as our soon to be dispatched rooster is aggressive). This was supposed to be a test hatch of just mine but then I saw she was selling hatching eggs and had better genetics than last year so I snatched them up. I am going to do the dry hatching method until lockdown. It took a little fiddling to get the right temp and then I set the eggs and at the moment it's coming back up to temp.

I think I may be a combo between AmyLynn and SC in terms of incubating style, but time will tell. I would love the Brinsea set and forget but I'm starting with this. Any advice welcome

Awesome!! Welcome to the thread!! Good luck on your hatch!

I have used my styrofoam for the past 4 years with 100% hatches each time. This time I tried my new bro sea calibrated it set it accordingly and I'm struggling to get one chick right now that imbin a full blown assist with and prob be up all night! What could have gone wrong! Btw the eggs in my old one ALL hatched so I know eggs are good. I think the temp was reading wrong?
I remember something about the mini there was someone who's eggs were not turning in one with an auto turner . if you have an auto turner mark your eggs and make sure they are turning . I can't remember which thread they posted this on .also not sure which eggs it was the larger are the smaller eggs .

I place my eggs on the turner in a laying down position. Yes, that's right, I tape them directly to the turner so they are always laying down. can't mistaken them for not being turned then....

So what kind of incubator did you get?

bought a cheap FI still-air styro. But it was a strategic purchase! ONLY to be used as a hatcher for staggered sets. (or possibly for the days while hatching in the Brinsea?)

What you want us to do tell you not to buy it WELL IT'S LITTLE LATE FOR THAT NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No you want us to hide it for you from DH don't you ?

It was on here. I think it was brought up the smaller eggs don't always get turnered with the mini's turner.
