I would love to have some Marans again, I had gotten some barred rock from a farm up the road and lost all but one, I had them separated from my flock because you just never know and surely within a few weeks one by one was dropping.. I believe they were sick from the beginning. I don't think they had Marek's disease because of the way they died. I beleive it was a respiratory issues. the one that I have left is doing GREAT. She has a crooked crown though. LOL I call her Elean... because of the leaning of her crown. LOL BIG girl. The rooster was even BIGGER. mean boy you turned your back on him he would ATTACK. LOL but they are soo Awesome.Thank you, I hope so too!
I'm going to try it.
Thank you!
This is such a beautiful chick - half Wheaten or Blue Wheaten Ameraucana (mom) and half Black Copper Marans and it came out sort of a yellow and amber color with eyeliner - I definitely want to see it grow out. I'll post a pic when I can get a good one. Another hatched out from this same cross that is yellow with some black spots - looks like someone dabbed it with a paintbrush! That one is doing great and alert. The rest so far are mostly black, 2 that are same cross as above are really downy with big muffs and have a brownish tone to them, they will be interesting too. One is hatching from an Ameraucana egg now that looks to have some yellow down. I was expecting all to be mostly black, so I'm happy!
