Shell less duck egg with broken yolk next to it

Yesterday’s morning egg. Not sure why it cracked like this....must be because it was -4 degrees.....She made a new nest and I could not figure out why??? Well last night I checked her old nest and the two eggs she had in there was FROZEN, hence the reason for the new nest. Sitting on those must have been so cold:lau
 
Question, does the duck mouth/throat have the same set up like a chicken?
Yes. At the back of every tongue is the opening to the trachea (airway), and the esophagus is located on the bird's right side.
