shipping adult birds??

I had someone ask me if I would ship them 6 mo. old birds from WV to FL....am I missing something? I didn't think you could ship birds that old. Seems like a bad idea to me.

Yes you can ship them. With the P.O. approved box, it runs about $50 a bird.

I once paid $300 for 3 chickens. the price included shipping and handling from California, but it was well worth it. They were excellent White Leghorns and improved my entire flock.

For most people buying chickens is compared to buying a dog. MANY people spend big money on a dog.

Yes, you can ship 6 month olds very easily. They are actually easier to do than chicks, IMO, although more expensive for the buyer. I have put a blog on our website that gives detailed instruction to shipping live birds.

Shipping 2 birds from WV to FL would NOT be $100! More like $40 or a little less. I don't know how that person came up with $100. Good lord. I had 4 big adult birds shipped from NM to MD (cross country) for $95.

That included the $20 shipping box.

Just yesterday I got 2 pairs of ducks shipped to me. Cost with boxes included was $80. People ship adult birds all the time!

So then they are handled differently by the post office I take it? This is just so very interesting to me! I had no idea. So, can you ship other animals too??
