Do you have room in the brooder for that many for a few days? If they all look OK I would post on your state thread for sure if anyone locally wants to buy them off of you now, also Craigslist and feed store bulletin board. Otherwise you could grow them out for awhile and just keep what you want and sell them later.. what breeds / sexes are they, started pullets sell easy in the spring.
I want to know what is going to happen, you have to keep us informed! Hubby's reactions, ( hehehe), the company response, and maybe the people who are waiting for the order.
I called them .. . they said 'keep 'em . . they cannot be reshipped now'
they said they would notify the other person and tell them the order went awry
and I guess theirs will be redone and sent to them.
When I popped the top I was like. .. .. that seems like a LOT more than
27 babies. . .started counting. .. ummm. a LOT more. .wth
label says:
5 barred rocks
8 black australorp
8 buff orps
10 easter eggers
8 golden laced wyandottes
8 silver laced wyandottes
5 rhode island reds
WOW. 50 more birds than I ordered.. .mine still haven't arrived!!
fortunately ALL pullets. I will keep them all for a little while and make sure they get
a good start. Then I will probably give some away. I would feel guilty selling them, I
did not pay for them.
But now I have a very grouchy husband who just took off to Lowe's to buy plywood to
try to work on a bigger brooder. . . he is NOT amused by this. although I am. . .once I
got over the shock. .
That is a really nice breed assortment, and pullets, talk about lucky, maybe you did need more chicks after all ... will your hubby believe you didn't do it? No reason not to sell them, you are going to have to take care of them and feed them for awhile, any place to donate them?
