Goodness, I'm so sorry, she was a beautiful hen. We do all we can to keep our flocks safe, but sometimes these weird things just happen. I've had a few of those too, but its never easy.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I think I might have figured out the mystery. I was out there under my deck again tonight pondering what the heck happened and I see a HUGE slug!!! When I finally did open Flash's mouth there was some mucous in it. She couldn't have gagged it up if her airway was blocked! So I think she ate a slug and it got stuck from all that sticky mucous junk. It would figure that I didn't feel it as slugs are soft. No matter what I couldn't have done anything to save her so I just have to realize at least she had a good life and that she wasn't in a factory farm wasting away.
