Should I be depressed if one of twenty five has hatched in four hours?

I am going crazy! My bator keeps spiking, have no idea why and only one chick is out and see nothing else.

I'm afraid it going to be a long night.

Usually there is the one impatient one who hatches ahead of the rest, then later the action starts. 4 hours is not that long for a hatch, its possible you wont see anything until tomorrow morning.

Are you using a styrobator by any chance ? As they generate body heat when they're about to hatch this tends to happen...a mass of bodies overwhelms the thermo settings on the unit..just don't adjust it or it swings the other way too much..I had the same problems with mine last year
Hang in there

Agreed! And don't open the incubator! The chicks that have already hatched can stay in there for 24 hours as they are still being fed by their yolk sac!! Good luck!!!

We had one of 13 hatch yesterday. one other zipped but quit. The other 11 are just sitting there. We will see what happens. I will say this, my wife loves the one so much that we are already calling it a suspenseful hatch! We are hoping for at least one companion though!

I had one duck hatch on the early afternoon of the 6th. It was perfect: Rocked, pipped, zipped, and hatched. There was nothing from any of the other eggs at all. But now today there seems to be a couple pips and I just now heard some peeping. Yay! The early ducky has made the waiting game even more nerve racking! Hope you get some wee chickies today!
