I always put my phone number in the add and won't make a sale through email. I need to hear the voice and stuff. They don't get an address until after I've spoken with them and then not until the day they're coming. They call before they leave, I give address, they show up.
I never plan for days in advance... 9 times out of 10 they don't show. On the phone we discuss the item, price, approximate location, and a time for pick-up. Sometimes I price super cheap and I get a call saying "I'll be there in 5". LOL
I've sold a lot of stuff online. Anyone really serious will call. Buyers... often they won't email you if you haven't listed a phone number because they think YOU are the spam.
While on the phone with them for the pick-up time, I make my giant 100 pound dogs bark. I apologize and say "Sheesh, Shepherds bark at the darndest things".
Or some other nonchalant remark if the conversation goes that way about my husband being home or something. Anything that let's them know I'm not an easy mark, just in case.
With the poultry, I usually have some great conversations. I've been on the phone for HOURS sometimes with a buyer talking ducks, chickens, rabbits, life... lol
