Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Colorado is pretty!

The first few times I saw my chicks stretched out like that, I kept waking them to make sure they were alive. Fakers! Scaring me for no good reason.

My Hattie found a new way to be naughty. Yesterday, her blue egg was sitting cracked by the door to the coop. Today, it was in the farthest possible corner of the run. Did I mention that the roof to their run is under four feet high? Why would she suddenly start not laying in the box? I haven't changed the box lining or position. How do I get her back to laying in the appropriate spot?

Bad chicken!

Hopefully, it is a temporary anomaly. Maybe I should get a second nest box, though.

TWO eggs today..... When I got home from work, Rumples was out with the others. Maybe she is just going through a phase. She is not helping with decision making.

Cheeka.... Colorado is beautiful. I am not sure about NM. That area of the States has tarantulas and too many snakes.

For the new members, I am going to re-tell a funny story (if you didn't read the whole thread, and already read it).
Dh is a trucker, and I used to go with him. One morning we awoke very early in Colorado. It was very cold. I had to wear long underwear, sweats, coat, gloves and boots to get out of the truck. We left the truck stop, and I fell back asleep with my layers on. My husband woke me by hollering, "Potty break!" He then jumped out of the truck with the dogs. I was so cold, I thought that we had only gone half an hour. I jumped up half awake,a nd put on my coat, boots, etc. By then I was actually waking up, and realized I really had to go to the bathroom!
I got out of the truck, and put my foot into the deep .... SAND!
We were in Arizona. My husband likes to keep the atmosphere 50* in the heat, and 80* in the cold (the man is insane!). I had to go so bad, I couldn't climb back into the truck to shed my clothes. It was 117* and I could only shed my coat, gloves and hat. I got a lot of strange looks!

Dh thought he was funny.

That being said, I like the dry heat. I also like snakes. Just not the "friendly" ones that wag their tails at you. Rattles are cute when a baby has them. Not so cute when a snake has them.

MC - I did read that story. I never did finish the whole thread....got to about august of last year. Hilarious!

Cheeka - My mom lives in CO. My dad still lives in WY where I grew up. If I could move right now, I would move to CO without even thinking about it. Sadly, hubby likes his job and refuses to consider it. Maybe he'll get fired or something

Hey guys! Its been a busy day... Hubby stayed home because it is our anniversary. We got the big kids on the bus for school, and then got the little ones ready and went out for breakfast. Abby had an appt. at the ENT, and has an ear infection so she's on antibiotics. Then we went to the grocery store. Got home, put away groceries, the big kids got home and did homework and then supper and bed!

I got 14 eggs today!!!!! Ratchet went after the chickens today, and there are a few without tail feathers.... I am NOT a happy camper! As I was looking them over, I realized that the lice are still a big issue. I thought that we had it taken care of, but some of the girls have them bad! Looks like I am going to have to dust everyone again and go from there... May end up breaking down and using chemicals... I'm hoping we can deal with them without having to do that though....

lindz, Happy Anniversary! such a busy day! hope you two had a bit of peace and quiet together this evening

I love Colorado, it's really beautiful, all over the state... I don't need to live in a snow belt tho'... I've been to Wyoming, also pretty, but flat comparatively... I don't like Albuquerque that much. but that's cuz I'm not a city person. I have a blast there for vacation. other parts of NM are terrific, and Arizona and Nevada are too hot. won't do it. I want a happy medium all the way around. not too far from family in either direction, not too hot, not too cold but seasonal.

Thanks! And peace and quiet in this house?!? Are you kidding? LOL.... It just has settled down and the kids are all asleep. We are watching TV and playing on our computers. Its hard to believe that we've been married 7 years already.... but then you look at the kids, and it seems like the years have flown by!
