I got a new customer today. she got my number from the lady who wanted only brown eggs. to back up a bit,
that lady got 3 dozen brown eggs on Saturday. I had another dozen with me for someone else, so I showed her the blue and green eggs... and she will take mixed batches now. so anyway, the new customer had my hens eggs for breakfast today at the other lady's house... and she really wants to buy some, but
she only wants blue and green eggs...
3 dozen for tomorrow if I can, and I said I could... but I've sold so many batches lately and gave some to my sweetie to share with his Mom... out of all the eggs left and what I collected today, I filled the order - and I have 2 blue/green left. I have the dozen+ Marans' eggs collected for a friend who just wants the blown shells... there are only 4 dozen eggs left after that! it's really been good to move them so quickly, but I know these new customers will be bumming when Autumn comes along and the hens all quit again. Getting a dozen eggs a week was really hard on the demand.
We're getting the same awful weather pattern here too. it was only supposed to be 1 freezing cold day and about 5 cool days in the 50's, now it's a week of 30's during the day and 20's overnight - I hope they shift back and we dodge this freeze. my Day Lilies are popping up like crazy and the lilacs are starting to bud. 1 or 2 cold days is okay. they're hardy, but a week will make a big difference, some plants won't make it. I have a dozen throw blankets that I lay over the front and side beds, but that's all I can do, the rest... well
20 for today - and Sillie laid another perfect little egg in the apple coop, Esther lays hers in the store bought every time, they are nearly the same size and Esther's is a bit darker with nice dark speckles.
