Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

When I had more I was going through about 50 lbs every couple of weeks. Now it takes them about a week to go through 7 lbs.

No eggs today. No pie. No squatting. Plenty of free range time. Also allowed the dog and the chickens in the yard together for the first time and it went well. I will never leave them together unsupervised but at least I know she won't immediately murder them.

Our dogs don't care about the chickens but won't leave the Ducks alone.

Got this message left by the neighborhood predator yesterday. Since I've gotten chickens, there have been at least 2-3 wild birds killed in my backyard. Figured it was my dogs, or the chickens (naturally).
Lost a 6 week old out of 2x4" wire, figured my dogs got it or raccoons (which I've never seen here).
Then I find this in my FRONT yard right next to my door. Looks like a hairball? Uneaten feathers carefully placed around it. Am I crazy here? Is it a complex mafia cat? Is it aliens?

Looked like the tail with feathers still attached at the bottom. Doesn't look like any owl pellets I've ever seen.

subhanalah, OK would be best to consult, hopefully he'll pop in soon... but it looks like coyote poop to me.

and I do ferment their feed, just not in the winter. i have no way to keep it from freezing. can't have lead cords running all around the yard to the various pens...

No eggs here AGAIN! With the feed bill you would think the chickens or ducks would give me somthing soon besides poop! Ungrateful little heathens. Lol maybe if I stand and quack at the ducks like they quack at me when they want treats, they will get the hint to start laying, but I doubt it. ( face palm)

I'm trying bribery. Holding a fake egg in one hand and scratch in the other. Once she eats some, I put the egg at her feet and give her the rest of the scratch.

I got 6 eggs today..... seriously girls! I did end up putting 10 eggs under the broody g.comet. we will see how well she does!
I think Zauk (my g.Dane for the newbies) was hit by a car earlier today. Exactly 2 weeks since my yorkie was hit and killed. I didn't realize what happene
d and thought he had been fighting. I really didn't think he was hurt as bad as he is. I think he may have some internal stuff going on.
On a brighter note..... we have a new addition after the kids begged, pleaded and used their own money
to get. (With some extra $ added from us)
