Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I understand that there are really sic people out there so screening has to be rigorous but I do think they make animal adoptions too difficult. I had a friend refused because she didn't have a fence. Didn't matter that her husband would be home all day and was a runner so would exercise the dog...

As for people I'm torn... I don't know enough of the system but I do have friends who are foster parents and the hoops they have to jump thro are ridiculous (can't cut hair wo permission of real mom who is on a crack binge...).
well, fostering and adoption are two totally different things withbpeople. With fostering, the child isn't yours, it belongs to someone else...but if you are adopting, it's your kid. Sorry for derailing the thread, guys.

Back on topic, lol.

I went to the Dentist. no cavities and I was out the door in under 40 minutes! my record for cleaning and scooting is 31 minutes.

21 of these are from today. all are going out for delivery tomorrow.

Look mortie!! I made pie!

But still nothing to report.... No eggs, no hint of anything other than poo. The ducks all got a bellyful of green beans and they loved that. Then made a mud hole out of their kiddie pool that I just fill with fresh clean water. They are the messiest creatures I have every been around. They are not happy with clean water, they will splash it on the ground to make mud then get beak fulls of mud and spit it back in the clean water. What do I do .... I go get DW and the kids and we stand and watch and laugh at them because we might be a little off in the Heads and we think it's crazy!

Cheeka that tray of eggs is awesome! I showed then to DW and said this is why we need a little more variety in our flock. Oh and good job at the dentist!

when you say episodes, what do you mean? My dog has erhlichia (sp?) and we've not been instructed of this same thing...but it was a while ago that she was diagnosed, maybe they've learned something about it since then. It was pretty mysterious to us when we first learned of it.

As for the animal adoptions...would you say the same of the human system of adoption?
The dog would be fine for months and months, and then she would start losing muscle tone. It really showed up on her head of all places. She also would get swollen foot pads and seem to be stiff in her joints, just not feeling well. It got more frequent as she aged. The first time this happened, before the diagnosis, it progressed so far that she could barely walk --- not good for a 145lb dog. Antibiotics did the trick, and the vet learned to trust my sister's judgement when she noticed the beginning of symptoms and asked for a course of antibiotics before it got bad.

All my dogs and cats have come from shelters, and sometimes I have lost interest in an animal due to the extensive and, to me, intrusive questionnaires, interviews, and inspections required by some groups. I support and adopt from groups with reasonable expectations. Although our pets are part of our family, I would not place them on the same level as children, and I would expect a much more rigorous process for the adoption of a child. That being said, I sometimes think the expense and time required makes adoption prohibitive for many couples. Good friends of ours adopted two children from central America, and are wonderful parents, although not wealthy. Some of the exorbitant cost of the adoptions could have been better used by the parents toward the kids' expenses after the adoptions took place. Worth it though; they are a fun and loving family.

Is this a peony? So pretty!
Oooooh.... so pretty! No wonder you have so many loyal customers!! I NEED more dark eggs. My Welsummer is too inconsistent. These darks are from a golden cuckoo Marans??

Lymes in humans is terrible, but in dogs it's very treatable. My moms dog could barely walk and after a couple doses of antibiotics was fine!

Paisley is georgeous!!! I love Yorkies! Didn't know they came in that color.

My friend who I talked into getting chickens got her first egg today. Which mean my hooligans should lay soon too (if they aren't already somewhere in the woods since they fee range so much)!

I feel like poo but I might go look tomorrow in some favorite outdoor spots!

On another note one of my BFF just found out her 4 yr old son is severly allergic to cats and dogs. So I'm going to foster her three cats. Her dog she just rescued from another family and might be able to send her back to them. The dog is too ill behaved for me to want him around Rawley!!! I just love my DH who didn't do more than shake his head when I mentioned all this!!!!
So sad for the little boy.

Your DH is a trooper and so are you for taking in those cats. Probably a huge relief for your friend, too!

I had ducks as a kid and would watch them for hours. We didn't have a pond, so they got to swim in an old bathtub. The ducklings would dive down and swim underwater laps round and round the tub! Ducky races! You're right about the mud, though. Any little puddle would be dabbled into a muddy mess.

W4W, it'a a rose, the bush is by a gas station of all places... even with all the car exhaust, the blooms smell exquisite!

these are the other two pictures I took, I just like the one I posted last night best, because the water droplets look so cool... they're starting to wilt, I meant to take pics the day before, but that spot is very high traffic and kind of a pain to navigate. the peonies at this elevation haven't opened yet, but they are close! another day or two should see a big difference. here is one of mine from yesterday, the closest of all the buds, there are ants still working diligently on several:
