Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Roger is mad because her breakfast treats were a hour late due to the clocks being turned back. I'm having a hard time feeling guilty for some reason.

Just be glad Roger hasn't figured out how to crow.

oh yeah! I forgot! I finally was home during the laying hour and heard the egg song! it was really startling, and very loud! at first I thought something had to be wrong and then I was laughing so hard... OK ~ mine are peacocks too!
my boys usually start the crowing chorus 'round 'bout 4:30 am, so... at least the neighbor didn't complain. I heard them today, I usually don't hear them til 6 or so, it wasn't terrible tho', only one crow every 15 minutes, kinda like a snooze button.

I got 4 yesterday, but only three today, and most days this past week. Bummer since I am already 2 dozen eggs behind on my orders. NOW I am doing the "are they laying yet" wait. I told DH I was going to have to buy store eggs for us this week. He laughed at me.

maybe you should cut back to 1/2 dozen for your customers til Spring? can't not have eggs for you guys!

This afternoon I went to rake the coop, scrape the roost, etc. For the past 2 months the youngest chicks have been afraid of the process. Not the rake. Just the floor moving thing. Not only were they not phased by it today (thanks to the storm, I did some MAJOR raking to be sure all was dry/airing out), but one Red Star pullet stood there watching me, riding the waves, inspecting anything that looked tasty, etc. We had a nice conversation. There wasn't even a fit from anyone when it was raining pine chips!
Meanwhile in the land of attack roosters .... When opening the coop in the morning, I enjoy the stampede and rocketing out the door.

Then someone nailed me on the way by. After a thunk in his rear, I went to walk inside to collect eggs. He freaked, tore into the coop screaming bloody murder. No one paid attention to him!

He gets no respect!!

DH's aunt would not be happy. She and her daughter are my best customers. Currently, the only regulars that actually pay me!
But, yeah. I told my husband he would have to break it to them.

Well, the power crew is working on the line to this side of the mountain. They say they want it on tonight...me too...I'm so over it already. Cannot go for another birdbath in a bathroom without heat....auuugggghhhhhh........enough of this winter time camping out! Stick a fork in me..I'm done...never really liked camping anyway...maybe for a weekend, overnight in the backyard, in the Airstream, on a sailboat....in the summer! I dun lost my mind.

hoping it is tonight that you get your power back... then after the hot water heater has been running for a while... take a long hot steamy shower.(or bath in my case...).. nothing better after a long drawn out power outage!

two eggs today, and a nice long time spent ranging in the sunshine today. first day in a long time that the sun was shining... can't remember when the last sunny day was, months ago anyway... we've had so much rain and overcast skies, I'd almost forgotten what it was like to feel the warmth ~ when the wind was calm that is... it's so cold today, first real taste of freezing weather... no ice this morning, but there was a thin layer of ice in the water this afternoon, The gang is well acclimated, they don't show any signs of difficulty with the drop in temps. we're expecting another nor'easter on wednesday. I'll put clear plastic sheeting over the front wall and door of the enclosure before that hits.
