Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Yes, bloat would have been an easy but not cheap fix. Out black lab, Cody , cost use $5000 one year for two knee surgeries. I would not spend that much on a questionable fix. As long as she is comfy and not in pain.

Holy cow I got 6 eggs today out of 18 laying. That's pretty awesome!!!!

Hawk swooped in on the ground next to the new run and then then took off for the tree and then flew over the other coop. Thankfully all the girls were locked up tight.

He's a pretty magnificent looking bird but I wish he would leave. We're trying to attract some crows to see if they'll come stay and he'll leave. Who knows.... But for the foreseeable future the girls will be confined with very closely supervised free range.

Clindz I felt the same way about Steve. Gorgeous bird but I wanted to strangle him. We have a lot of crows and he didn't even care. He was kind of a jerk.

Of my 6 the two that went broody in sept are stlil not laying. Brats. They're not going to until the days get longer, fine I guess. Of the 4 that are laying I very often get 3 eggs a day. Many times cracked from freezing. On the days that I don't get 3 it's always one for some reason. Never two.

It is super cold out. Like 20F right now. I am going to give Rump some fresh straw for her little box and they need fresh water. We still have the 2 deer to process and dog food to be made. I guess I better get my lazy butt in gear.

Oh, she's pretty and has kind eyes. The vets have probably already mentioned the possibility, but I was thinking liver tumors. Happened to my mom. Nothing in her bloodwork showed the cancer, which was stage 4. It wasn't painful, just uncomfortable. Although, the dog's abdomen filled really quickly, so that doesn't fit exactly. In fact, if it doesn't start refilling with fluid, then it's probably something else entirely. See, talked myself out of it. Hope she'll be okay.

((((Mortie))))
I will spare you my story, but tell you that it sounds a lot like your's. I spent $4500 in the end. I now preach pet insurance. It is about $20/month, and our deductible was $100. I took Sturgis off of it because dh never filled out the claims. Got tired of having something he wasn't even using!!

Thanks everyone. She's a super good dog. She's never had an accident in the house, doesn't steal food from the counter (even stuff like bacon), stays off the furniture, is good with our cat and my chickens, LOVES my kids, listens and obeys immediately, so trainable. Doesn't chew stuff up. The shedding is annoying but she can't help that, right?!
