Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

She wouldn't be worth getting insurance on. They would screw me over with all that prexisting conditions nonsense. She has food allergies up the wazoo and her breed is prone to so many health problems. Normally $1500 vet bill be doable but it comes at a time when we've had a lot of other stuff going on. If I had a puppy I'd think about it. I don't know that I'll ever get a puppy. They're cute but oh so much work.

Btw Scrambles...it's 20 here and it feels kinda warm ;)

It's finished!!!

Now for the fun stuff... Adding a branch roost, putting in some outside nest boxes, etc...

And the barn is underway.

It's only 24x24 so just a small barn. And I just realized that this is going to have nicer windows than our house!

The chicken run kinda took on a life of it's own. Didn't seem so big on paper.

Unfortunately I'm maxed out on coop space so no new chickens (I have 37 counting all the babies still some of which are males and will not be staying).

The barn for now is for a couple of goats but in the future a couple of pigs. I've always wanted pigs!!!!

mortie - hope your dog turns the corner!!!

nice nice nice set up clinz!!

it's been very busy up here with work, not much flock time which is driving me crazy, but someone came to look at the house day before yesterday and another person wants to see it tomorrow! all I can say is please someone, buy it. I've done some research (minimal so far) on where to move. I'm liking the Pueblo Colorado area. only about 100 miles from my folks and fairly mild 4 season climate...
as for my gals, I get anywhere from 1 - 4 eggs daily. most have finished molting and are looking stunning and our weather has been pretty decent. we did get the one storm that dumped a foot, but the windy warm up melted it all away and the subsequent storms have all been washouts. phew. my cousin is coming up this afternoon to help me clean out some junk in the garages, so hopefully that means we can have some free range time!!

Holy crap Clindz...that's nice! Come build me one!

Cheeka - are they delivering packages on sundays lately? I got a USPS package on sunday and I was like...what just happened?! lol.

They just started doing that. Gotta keep competitive with ontrak I suppose.

Clindz.... I definitely have chicken run envy. It's awesome!
Mortie... I dropped the pet insurance at age 7. For a rott, that is old and the premiums went over $75 a month.
Our UPS gut said that they are short handed and need to work 12-14 hour shifts right now. Ho Ho Ho... it's the season.
