Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

clearly, Goldie is happiest in the palm of my hand. that, or up on my shoulder/neck, tangled in my ponytail.

but we had fun outside. tasting grass, clover and dirt. then I found an ant. tapped it and derped. ant gone! first bug! it takes long drinks of water, but always chirps bloody murder first... basically saying, Look Ma... watch me drink. oh and you know how a chick will peck at its Mamas eyelid? yeah... I'm its Mama...

That is very sweet!

Will she be ready to join the other chicks with the broody hen soon?

Awwww.....those are great pic's of lil miss Goldie....glad to hear she is doing all the chickie things she needs to do.

Got a question for you guys & gals: can you use Blu-Kote & Pick no More together?

We have one bald headed & neck girl (we got 2 freebies from a friends mother and they were terrorized by roosters & head hens)...the other one is a pecker, she's pecked poor Glady's (the last girl from the fox attack) head and now she has a bald area. I had read the Blu-Kote was good for disguising the redness, so we got some tonite & saw the Pick No More and BF wanted to try that as well.

Any info. is greatly appreciated!

I do not think blue kote tastes good so use it first.

You can also use pin less peepers to stop them. The cannot tear when the peepers are on.

thanks Ron! I just smelled the Pick no More and it kinda smells good...LOL One more question. This woman that we got the hens from (who doesn't know a thing about them
he.gif
) clipped both wings on all her hens! These 2 were clipped so much that they are rubbing their bodies under their wings raw....Their tubes/quills are poking them pretty bad. Any recommendations for that or just wait for them to grow back?

If the skin is infected, I would use vetericyn.

Alrighty then.....for those of us who don't know better and should
barnie.gif
DO NOT use the Blu Kote spray without very long plastic gloves & shoes you don't care about.....or you will look like you got into a fight with an inkwell.....

If you do get it on your hands and feet (like I did and BF looks like a bank bag blew up on his hands) hehe sorry I feel stoopid for not realizing it is BLUE!!!!! but it was funny.....GoJo works real good for getting most of it off......

It stains too!

Thank you Ron.....Right now it's just a little raw no sign of infection at all, but we will keep an eye on it.
The feathers may not completely grow out until they molt.

lol, every time I use Blu Kote, I get a blue/purple something. fingers, smear on my shirt... but the stuff works so well!

I introduced Goldie to Silkie Gossamer this afternoon. she may be the one who takes it. maybe Esther, if any of her eggs hatch tomorrow, that would be better... as for Cressa and Louise, I don't trust Louise, and I can't separate the 2. then last, but not least... I have Big Broody Mama. she's such a love. Mylee calls her :the hugging chicken" usually, when she sees a chick it sets off a broody bomb in her mind... and she has to have some... I'm off tomorrow. I hope to have her with someone by the end of the day.

Debby, would an apron help protect the skin from the pins? I don't have much luck with fitting aprons properly, but I like the protection they offer at least for the bit of time they keep it on
