Seven out, one dead (never had that before) one looking half dead. Two actually, but one more than the other. One pipped a while ago. One rocking.

so... when I went to pick up the moving truck, I picked it up at my friend's farm stand... Joe is a great guy and he was sad to learn that it was me who was moving away, horrified at how thin I have become... and sent his daughter behind me in their van with a big cage and she took Royce, Royce Jr, and ALL the bantams! they have lots of chickens that they keep as pets, and will continue breeding for the tinted eggs. they also have goats, sheep, ducks, dogs..............
so... as of yesterday afternoon... I became a chicken keeper without a single chicken to keep...
on the house front... we finally got word a few days ago that it fell through. they couldn't get the financing they needed. I was so stressed even tho' everyone from the Realtor, Attorney and my family all told me not to worry... anyway... my Realtor was waiting for the cancellation contract and was out showing another woman properties that she just wasn't happy with, so Shannon told her that my house was coming back on the market the next day (yesterday) the lady asked what the address was and when told, she leapt for joy! she had fallen in love with the house online and drove up from NJ to take a drive by, then visit the Realty office... but when she drove by, there was already a sales pending sign up, and the house had only been on the market for 6 days! she was heart broken... so... she drove back up from NJ yesterday and was inside the house and walking the 5 acres for 2 hours! then we thought they left, but they didn't! they were just at the edge of the frontage, negotiating! another hour later, Shannon came to the door with a FULL PRICE CASH OFFER! the lady already has her letter proving she has funds. all the inspections will be redone within 2 weeks, we already know the house passes from the first people... so we will close around 9/5.
she loves everything about the house, said we can leave whatever we can't take, wants the fireplace tools and pretty brooms that are hanging on the stone work... she has 10 dogs, 4 horses and 1 bull - the bull lives on her front porch in NJ!
Mrs. Nosy is going to have a fit! she thought a young family with little kids was moving in... this lady and her husband are bikers. Schenectedy Warlocks will be visiting daily for barbecues and lots of noise! Ha ha! I love this lady, we chatted for quite a while after she was done looking at the house, we'd be friends easily. I am sooooooo happy!

All three of my SPR cockerels and a pullet. 14 (wow! I hadn't realized it was that many!) SPR chicks out and 4 more eggs to hatch. Two SPR chicks dead, One is questionable. I was carrying her around, growling at her, but she wouldn't peep.
what the heck happened to those poor babies???

MC! So sorry about your rock youngsters.
That's one breed where the females are prettier than the males. Any ideas what got them? Were there other chickens in the same pen that survived? Whatever it was will probably be back. Hope the scary biker chick catches it!
