Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Okay, so three broodies and a dead chicken. Looks like the dead chicken is Melissa Etheridge. She was the one ee from the original six chickens I was brought two years ago. I could hatch some of her eggs (the third broody has nothing), but I really don't want anymore mutts. I need to focus on one breed.

I forget, what is your one breed? At least if you have a few EE mutts you can pull out the green eggs easily and keep your select breed eggs for hatching. I love my EEs. Original one is now over 5 and still laying! Very healthy.

DH is messing me over with a vengeance. I need to keep numbers down. Once everyone is processed that should be, I'll have (I think!) ten total chickens, four ducks and it looks like the turkey stays.
Then when I'm down to just SPR, I can have one coop for chickens, and one for pets (ducks and turkey). Less cleaning!

Apparently it wasn't Melissa. She was laying on top of Stevie Nicks. I didn't even notice that I was missing that many eggs! Eight in a few days. I just thought I wasn't getting perfect days.
Anyway, I still have her.

No. She's very much alive. She is also very much broody, and trying to kill me!
Stevie has a white collar. Melissa used to have a little white, but it disappeared after her first molt. Now she's just black with green legs. I hadn't looked at the dead chicken's legs to notice they weren't green.
