Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

She made it to a good age.

I have seen success if you take the hen to a vet and have the reproductive tract remove. I watched a show from Disney about the doing this with one of their flock from their zoo in Florida
Goodness. That must be pricey. Maybe if she were much younger... and I won the lottery. I just don't want her to suffer. She's still doing good for now. Had egg and yogurt with powdered egg shell for breakfast, then spent the day with the other two outside in the sun.

Here's little old Fudge.

You are doing the best things for her!

I hope she gets better.

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas.

The one pullet that started laying on the 16th is still going strong, and one of the EEs has made a small contribution as well.
The first egg is on the top left and go in order counter clockwise so you can see how large her eggs are getting comparing first to last.

Caught in the act! I knew it was her. That's a plaster egg in front of her.

Amazing thing is, she only skipped one day since she started laying! And started during the shortest days. I checked on them this morning and she was in the box. That will make 10 eggs in 11 days.
An overachiever? :D

Yes! Most likely an BBS Australorp. They are winter layers and lay very well

I had to pour hot water on the locks and feed barrel this morning to get them open. We had a ton of rain and 47* on Thursday, then it dropped to the teens with a below zero windchill overnight, and snow. Last night was as cold.
We are way behind in rain here in this part of California
