Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Four eggs again today!

I was doubtful when I only had three earlier. I did see a JG try to get into the main box, but she seemed to be having trouble. I later found an egg in another box. Wondering if the other eggs discouraged instead of encouraged her? Either way, she is my small egg layer. I am still impressed by the size of the eggs. All but Penny have been laying only one week, and 3 weeks as of today.

Now if the other 11 would lay!

I got my ladies as an early Xmas present and they are now 24 weeks (been with us for 7 weeks) still no eggs ! I told my husband he couldn't have a fry up until there was an egg but i caved in and bought some when I needed to make a birthday cake (he got his fry up). Has anyone tried putting a bought egg in the nest to encourage them or is it more likely to scare them ? (they are bantams and bought eggs are not   )
I started giving my girls rice brand which made my 3 youngest start laying at 5 months. I did it to help with molting and ended up jump starting the youngest. Go figure

May you have warm words on a cold evening,
A full moon on a dark night,
and a smooth road all the way to your door.

Happy New Year my Friends!

I have 4 eggs for today, and a grumbly gang... they are fine, just wantin' some PIE! I've been back to a hellish schedule again, hopefully have tomorrow off so I can treat them to something fun! it's been so cold and horrible, but today was decent, 25 degrees and very sunny, no wind... it actually felt warm. would have been nice to spend some time with them, alas... work beckoned, and me... with a blown out back from trying to lift a tub of mail from a bent position... such a knucklehead, oh well... suck it up and get on with it! (I always say...) it was dark when I got home, such a shame that they couldn't get some of that sun!

on the migraine thing... I get them, horrible, started this year, know it's menopause.

when I was a kid, it was determined that i not only was susceptible to Strep, but am a carrier...

...so I would infect myself. for years, I was sick, either coming down with, suffering or getting over strep throat. I lived on penicillin for 4 years. all the while, living a very active life... just got used to sore throats, and fevers. anyway, I missed at least one week of school a month in junior high and most of high school, til they ripped out my tonsils... but the best school sick story... 8th grade geometry class, I felt nauseous, and asked to be excused to go to the nurse. He said "no" and "made and example" of me by pointing out how often I left his class to go to the nurse and how much school I missed. so I sat down. then about 10 minutes later, the puke was coming... so I just got up and started to run across the room to the door. Mr. Willis grabbed my arm and swung me around hollering "where do you think your going?" and as soon as I opened my mouth... a cascade of vomit showered down on him, from face to feet! it was awful, and I was out for another week. when I came back, Mr. Willis put the trash can by my chair... and told me he had chunks in the cuffs of his pants.

hi Cath1, try the eggs or golfballs... some people use wooden or even marble eggs... I didn't use anything for my girls. I just waited it out and voila! one day there was an egg in the nest! at 26 weeks plus some days, then one by one they all started laying. by 29 weeks or so, maybe 30, they were all laying. Peach was a little over 30 weeks before she laid her first egg. She is a bantam too. bantam cochin x EE. little darlin' she is! her eggs are the same size as Wilma, my BR, who lays a "pee wee" egg. Wilma is more than 2ce her size... it's kinda funny they lay the same size egg... hang in there, at most maybe another month to go... Pie does help

Lot more people get chomped on by gators than you know. Have some horror stories I can't mention here. Florida is a dangerous place, everything bites stings is poisonous or has wicked thorns. Now we can boast pythons and king cobra. And who knows what else when the wildlife refuge was busted up in the hurricane, and the snake pen emptied.

I've heard that people have released so many large snakes and lizards that they have naturalized and are reproducing easily in the warm climate.

Bet the gators love to snack on pets too. Around here when a cat disappears, bobcats get blamed.
We lost Syd last December. Still miss him. Very cool dude.

Oh what would you give to have a picture of that?!! As "an example" you must have surpassed all his expectations AND taught him something as well!

My #1son was very relieved to have made it out of the classroom and the hall was empty except for the principal. Although the kids knew what happened, there were no witnesses, thank goodness. He would have been mortified.
