Once upon a time, there was a 6 lb. Pom-a-Poo named Harley. Harley loved riding around the country in his big Red truck with the 53 foot trailer (with dead chickens in it more often than I want to remember. Oh! The stench!

). One day Harley's mom and dad left him in the truck at a rest area while they grilled steaks nearby. Harley was not happy! He wanted steak too! He was too small to reach the air horn, so he jumped up on the steering wheel, and bounced on the city horn. Mom and Dad looked up! Harley jumped down, and pawed at the window to get their attention. It didn't work!! They thought there was a defective horn in another truck! Harley tried again and again until ... Finally! Mom and Dad saw it was HARLEY blowing the horn!
They laughed, and ignored him. Harley eventually gave up, and stopped blowing the horn.
BTW, the Pointer used to turn on the turn signal. It was always easy to find our truck at night.

hehehe! thats adorable. they wanted to go with you!

How common are those? I'm starting to think my work birds are EE mixed with wyanettes. They have the same neck colors but solid black bodies.

Wyandottes were developed in the US and have been around for a while, so are fairly common and available from most hatcheries. They have rose combs (flat bumpy looking combs) rather than the single combs we're used to seeing. If you have hens that are black bodied with gold feathers on the neck, they could be a black sexlinks. Not a breed, but a cross of two other breeds that hatch chicks that can be sexed by color as soon as they dry. Get some pics and maybe we can figure it out.

forgive the terrible picture quality. I am sooo ready for a new camera. Here's "Butters" I have him in quarantine. He is a little rough. His tophats been trimmed i think. He is very sweet so far, he does act as tho he may peck. But i don't care i just grab him up. He has been a big hit so far, he even got to travel to my in laws today

Not sure if you can really see in the 2nd picture. About 2/3 of the work hens have gold or silver necks,or are solid black. The roosters on the other hand.....

This is just one of many. Only a few look like him.

MC, i meant to say yesterday... but spaced it out... my Pug, Ruby, will stand on the armrest of my truck, and step on the door lock button. I learned the hard way to not leave the car running with the ac on in the summer for her... bc she's locked me out several times. depending on the heat index, I either leave her home, or take the spare key as a back up... I've also learned to leave the window open enough to get my arm in to push the button as well... my car isn't a problem, the door lock button is on the door panel. she can't get to it. she's never beeped the horn. doesn't have to... she screeches horribly and cries non-stop.

still waiting to find out if I have to go to work, will know for sure by 8;40.

I'm on "so and so's route tomorrow... so aggravating, but a nice start for the paycheck...

Yeeeeeee-Haw! I am OFF! ahhhhhh, another cup of coffee... CBS News Sunday Morning starts in 15 minutes, love this program, especially the arts...and community news. if it wasn't on 20/20 last week, it was on CBS NSM ~ a teenage girl in Colorado saved her family home from foreclosure by selling eggs, started door to door and built a business that makes $15,000 a year! has the certified Seal of free range, and a really beautiful flock. my folks live in Denver, if I remember correctly, she's in Denver area... so I told my Dad he needs to buy eggs from her. He wasn't sure if she would deliver as far as they live, so I told him to send my younger brother to pick them up... he laughed and told me those would be the most expensive eggs in the world as my knuckleheaded brother won't run errands for free! doesn't surprise me much. I still want him to buy her eggs.
