Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Well it looks like I might have my 5th layer real soon. She spent a lot of time in and around the nest box today and has a real peeved off look on her face (a lot like a Mom near her due date LOL) She's in no mood to be handled either, but I checked her out anyway

The incubators are on sale. And I bet you still have electric outlets just sitting there not being used. It is Spring. They are soooo cute. Everybody will want to buy them. You can sell the eggs. Free range them and the feed bill is nothing. Stop counting. They are called a "flock" for a reason.

When my SLWyandotte was working her way up to laying, she went through a big personality change. Extremely cranky and complaining, lots of stink eye looks, and chasing after the other girls and pulling feathers. We had to change her name!

She's never been particularly friendly, but I have always been able to grab her when needed (she's a New Hampshire). I had to force her to move along after a while, but I think it'll be soon!

I have a hatchery NH and she is pretty even tempered, but they all got a little crazy for a while. No stopping those hormone rages. I found that most of my girls got really friendly after they were laying regularly. Well, Grumpus excepted. Some don't seem that inclined to squat, and they won't usually do it for you if you have a rooster in the flock. My Ameraucana started checking out the nest boxes and spending time sitting, so I thought she was close, but it took a month to get the first egg! Hope yours is soon!!

So cute, especially the bantams. Maybe they were scared of the big eagle swooping down to devour them!
