Keep us posted. I am happy that the power outage didn't kill the entire batch. Hopefully you get some good results.

I have had a busy week but am happy with all chicken related things. I did contact someone to get eggs for my incubator. I do have a brinsea but havent used it yet. I wanted to try local eggs before shipped eggs. I am planning to get some eggs by thursday though....its my birthday and I decided I want two things...hatching eggs and a game camera.

that's such a great idea Sally, that's what I did for myself for my birthday... got chicks...wish my birthday was in the summer... now I just have to convince Peachy not to brood in winter.

one of the SLW eggs broke under Violet today. so she's down to 7.

I got 17 eggs today out of 19 (Peach is back to laying) worked the short route and when I got home there was almost no chores to do! how nice is that??? especially since it was 91* and felt like 97*... actually it was a bit cooler at home, but only about 4 degrees... then we had a humongous thunder and lightning storm with tons of rain... it's so much cooler now.

Linda, x2 with Sally, really hoping you're feeling better!!!!!!

We pause now for an Orkin break.
By the time you see termites in your home, they have been chewing it up for 3-5 years. That means my house was being eaten for as long as ten years before I called the Orkin man. The inspection is free. I had to pay $2,000 today. That is for a small house. I was saved by oversized oak. The house is not destroyed. He also confirmed that I am mouse free.
The work is promised to be effective for one year. After that, I have to pay 10% ($212) to renew the warranty. The work is free while under warranty. I think the 10% thing is wrong, but I will be paying it next year!

Beth, the JG hatched five chicks. One yellow chick was killed. IDK if it was Beth or Midnight. The other 4 are black, and I saw combs at 2-3 days old! They were born Wednesday (all but one) and Thursday. 2 boys, 2 girls. Baby's chicks are getting big. 2 boys and a girl. 3 weeks old, and cute as can be. Sturgis walked into their pen this morning. Baby never moved as he sniffed the chicks.
One of Beth's eggs blew up on me yesterday.

I was fortunately outside. 2 were infertile, 2 quit about the last week, and one pipped internally. 4 were eaten before hatch. IDK when.
Midnight needs to go to the vet. She did lay an egg a few days ago (finally!!) but her leg is still broken.
