Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I myself, didn't do it... but still... it was the right thing to do. I don't need to think with my heart when I can think with my stomach... they will make fine meals. my folks are coming up for a day in early December - they'll be visiting my brothers family in Manhattan... grandchildren...take an early train up on Sunday, and go back in the mid evening... long day for them, but worth it - they want to meet the flock, and are very interested in trying the meat.
those roosters had great lives. now I have a 10' x 10' x 6' space available. Peachy will love it!

Cheeka, your efforts to be caring and sensitive using a spoiler alert were thwarted by the Recent Images In This Thread, off to the right.

Your guys had a very good life, better even than some people in this world. Interesting to see that it all looks like dark meat! Very nice and lean. You'll have to give us a report on how it tastes!

omg... I didn't even notice the side pic... how silly... yeah, the meat is very lean - I was surprised that there was so little fat. but they free ranged (weather permitting) 6-7 hours a day, and got lots of exercise. I did pick up a hundred and fifty pounds of corn today tho', to fatten them all up for winter in case everyone is that lean... they all eat the same diet... the meat actually smells like pheasant. it's beautiful... can't wait to try it...

Shows the difference between birds confined to cages and fed commercial feed that is designed to make them fat and not muscular. I know from killing wild turkeys that there is no comparison between a wild turkey and one of those things they sell at the store that people will have for Thanksgiving dinner. They don't even look like the same animal. It will be different from what you are use to but you are eating meat that has not been fed growth hormones or been mistreated by being confined to a cage for its entire life. Enjoy and hope you didn't take offense to my reference to the name thing. On second thought it my not have been the right time for that. I think it is great that you are able to do that. (process birds). On a side note Roger has been a perfect angel since you posted that information and pictures.

I might be lost for words but I have not lost my head. That is all
Could have fooled me. Your water is frozen.....It is snowing......You are still locked in the coop......PETA is not ringing the doorbell......you have no scratch.......and you are not screaming at the top of your lungs. I thought surely your head was missing:lau Getting dressed now. Be there in a minute

OK ~ oh no offense about the names at all! ole BH told me not to give them names at all... but I am a "namer" - it doesn't affect me to eat them. the meat is all mixed together, I don't know which is which... except for Carl's breast. it's smaller than the other 2... I think the meat looks wonderful - and am sure it will be delicious! I've eaten lots of wild turkey, and much prefer it to the fatty, pale, almost tasteless birds from the market. I prefer vension to beef... for the same reason, leaner, better texture, better flavor...(same for elk and buffalo - way better than beef) I have a beef connection now - purely pasture fed, given very little to no corn... and what a difference! it is so good... next year, I will do my best to participate in the butchering. I don't think I will ever be able to do the killing, but once something is dead, I can skin it and stuff... I've helped gut, skin and butcher deer...

we had a good snow storm last night, and it's beautiful this morning - freezing cold and very windy, but sunny and pristine with the fresh snow. Royce was uppity and nervous this morning, flared at me... understandable given the circumstances of yesterday... he was given a meal fit for royalty... spoiled hamburger, corn and FF with BOSS... when I came back with fresh water, he was much more relaxed...

Waiting line for the best box!
