Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

happy birthday!

Wow - hope nobody was hurt. I think of the thousand stupid things I do every day, and it makes me glad I never had children. Babies are so vulnerable. Well, and kids scare me.

Where is Roger lately? Has she finally settled down? Is there hope for my Barred One, then? Or, perhaps poor Roger is too despondent from all the snow to condescend to update us. My Barred One is so red, now. Maybe I will get my Christmas eggs, after all! The eggs (which I had to BUY) in the incubator are doing whatever it is very dark Marans eggs do until hatching. It's not like I can see a blasted thing through those shells.

Eggs, eggs, eggs - it's all I think about, lately.
I don't even try to candle BCM eggs, my eyesights terrible as it is

My pekin are still laying! OEGB, Sebright and Seramas. The rest, slackers, I tell ya!
Eggs eggs eggs.. where are they?
eggs eggs eggs, anybody?
My tale is bad so terribly sad!
have layers of layers upon layers, and no eggs to show?
Where did they all go?
We all know its time we go... and MAKE PIE!

Thanks guys! It was basically just another day though...

No biggie....

It doesn't take but a few minutes to hook a car seat in correctly, and most hospitals, police depts, EMT/Rescue squads, will do a FREE carseat check for you... There is NO excuse for it to be used incorrectly! I drive my family crazy, because I am so strict about car seats..... It just isn't worth the risk in my opinion.

I only got 4 eggs today, and I ended up squishing one of them trying to put the yorkie in the bedroom and keep him off the baby right after the wreck. I had just laid MY baby down and run down to grab the eggs when it happened, so I had 2 eggs in my hand....

It was actually quite comical.... me running up the hill in my yoga pants, rubber coop boots, with 2 eggs in my hand... LOL
LOL i can see that, i would have been laughing at myself! Isn't that how it goes too, worse stuff happens when still in your Jammie's.
I usually have a flannel on and who knows what pattern shirt and leggings if I am just going out for the mail, or give baby moo his bottle

scary accident ~ really happy you were home to help! I've got the same pet peeve with car seats ~ Mylee's Grammy who lives here in the same town as me wouldn't use Mylee's seat often, and when she had to, she wouldn't hook it up at all. she got pulled over for something else, and the officer looked at Mylee and hooked her seat up properly - then gave Grammy a $100 ticket... which she tried to force me to pay! she said I never taught her how to hook it up......
there is a set of instructions on the side of the seat, in English and Spanish and with detailed pictures for those who speak/read neither. needless to say, I would not pay the ticket. Mylee has an older sister who was 4 when Mylee was born and Grammy has had sole custody of Sister since the children's mother died when Mylee was 3 weeks old. please... she wants me to believe that Sister never needed a seat from age 4???? anyway...
I really hope you had the greatest of all birthdays yet!

the mail was a record 3 hours late today. we all made it back to the outgoing truck by the skin of our teeth... actually, Ms So and So had to detour back to drop the outgoing mail off and then go back out to finish delivering. I got back just as the driver had his hand on his door handle... so I had to check for eggs in the dark, with the aid of my cell phone screen. I found 2, but also found EE Penny sleeping in the nest, so there may be an egg under her... it won't go below freezing overnight, so it's no biggie... but I wonder why she's sleepinkeg in the nest, broody?

Grammy! I HATE when one child is treated differently than the next. Thats a huge peeve for me and makes me angry!
Grammy sounds a lil biased and that's just sad. Its only hurting Mylee.
The child sees it, young does not mean ignorant, and really hurts their self esteem

When I did girl scouts, I had 23 daughters lol, I loved them all the same. Some were stinkers, some shy, and some precious but each one I loved so much.
It was a joy to watch them all grow up. Some of the girls still call me "mom" and all are 30+ now.
My youngest DD's "real mom" has always been a yahoo contact since 2000 and we email regular, I have always sent her school papers, school pics.
Any life event Cassy had, I shared with her mom. It was just the right thing to do, and very healthy emotionally for Cassy.
Her mom, Cheryl knew about her accomplishments, and sad times too. She was able to share her life events with her and talk about them.
I actually called her bawling the day she got her driver license. we we both crying over the phone!
Even tho Cassy is on her own and grown now, I still talk to her mom. Life goes on, and she is in TX so its so far away for her.
I was ecstatic that she was able to attend her HS graduation, and Cheryl was crying she was so proud of her, well we both were.
There is times her mom upsets me, but Cassy needed to have her in her life.
UGH got off topic there but my point is, people need to see being a "child" doesn't mean naive or ignorant. they know, and deserve our respect.

Happy birthday Lindz!!!! Hope this accident scared the mom enough to fix the car seat....

Eggs??? Chickens lay eggs? I hope I have some that do. In about 12 weeks!!!

My DH asked why one of the marans was so much bigger than the other. And then it sure sounded like someone was trying to crow. Just my luck I paid for girls and hot boys... Time will tell!!!

Cookie baking is on for tomorrow . Trying out some new recipes so it'll be interesting!

Dear Santa
Here is my Christmas List.

1. Pie (six extra large with everything)
2. Scratch (400 pounds please.....8 fifty pound bags will work)
3. Bread (35 loafs. Don't worry I can freeze it)
4. Venison (Two bucks and a doe. Save the heart and liver too)
5. Meal Worms (One 55 gallon barrel full will be fine. Don't wanna be greedy)
6 A key to the back door of the Dollar General store (I love pizza)
7. A faster dog to drive my getaway car (I'm thinking a greyhound)
8. My own credit card. (Dad's card won't work anymore)
9. A good knife that I could use to castrate a RIR rooster
10. A couple dozen fresh brown eggs

If you have to leave anything off forget the eggs I can steal them around here from the golden comets and take credit for them.

LOL Roger, you sure do know what to ask for! nice to hear from you!

back off topic, Grammy doesn't speak to me anymore. which is sad, and Mylee does notice. Grammy wouldn't answer the phone the last time Mylee was here.
my "step" kids, and I hate using that step part... are my kids. so what I didn't give birth to them. their dad was married 4 times before I came along, and he's been married one more time since me. all the exes hated each other and him til I came along. I got all the women together for the kids sake. we didn't care about the past and what he might have done to end the marriages... it was the kids who count. so it turned out great - son went to trade school and took his GED to get out early, so there hasn't been too much celebrating for him except for the birth of Mylee. daughter has done all the major things we hope for... and we were ALL there cheering for her. she has so much support and love, and her HS and College graduation and wedding were amazing! we were all there, Dad was a bit put off during the first hour or so of each gathering... but got over it quickly enough. when she had her first child last March... again, we were all there, doting and helping. she thrives because of all the different women and all of our strengths. she's a bit like each of us. which makes me very happy (and proud, not the evil pride... just proud as in amazed at the impact she let us all have on her life...) she needs all of us. it's confusing, but the grandkids have Oma, Omi (me), Nana, and MeMaw. Mylee has a fifth, Gramma, who adores her, and sixth, Grammy, who better come around soon or else! there are lots of Grampa's and Papa's too... so many marriages...

At least you have all unique names! My sisters kids have a grandma, grammy, and nana. But I guess the creativity ran out for the men because it's grandpa, nana's pop pop and grammy's pop pop!!!!

It has to become all about the kids....(wish my sisters ex figures that out). But my family eventually got it together and now we all do holidays together. And it's to the point were it's actually real and not pretend because for example if my mom has to work a holiday and can't make it to my dad's house my step father has no problem going over by himself... My mom and step mom often do things together.... I still think it bothers my step mom when my dad and mom talk about something from the past but heck at this point her and my dad have been married longer than my dad and mom....

Oh the complicated web we weave!!!!

Rodger I'm sharing your Christmas list with my crew so they can see how spoiled you are. You think you could give dad an egg or two for Christmas?

You know I am really getting into the Christmas spirit. I keep singing my favorite song over and over

" Rudolph you misfit reindeer...
You are loved a whole bunch.....
But if I get my wish.......
I'll be eating you for lunch...."

So you are hating on Rudolph because after the second stop last year Santa had to leave you sitting on a roof because you looked more like a turkey all swollen up from eating cookies and reindeer food the kids left out for Santa and the reindeers ?

66 degrees and sunny!!! I had to open the windows to the coop because it's so nice!!!

So I'm panicking. I know in theory you can let chickens outta the coop but I'm afraid to incase I can't round them up. I was hoping the chicken run would be here by now but no luck. Hopefully in the next couple of days it'll come. It's just such a nice day I know they'd like to be outside.... I'm just the chicken in this case. Thankfully they're so small still that they have plenty of room inside.

CLindz, sometimes you have to take the chance...especially if you have time to spend outside with them. I did just that this afternoon - I can't believe I got home at 3! I had serious work to do on the Fosters roof. the first part I took care of this morning, but with rainfall during the day, I wasn't sure what kind of mess I would come home to. thankfully it was only raining lightly and I had no recurring issue in the large chamber. so, while I worked on the inner chamber, I let the Fosters out. first time. oh man were they happy! I kept rounding them back up, not letting them get too far out back, and not worrying about them if they were in the middle yard. Rounding them up could have been downright difficult, but it wasn't. a quart of corn and a quart of millet, went about them, shaking the containers, letting them get a little taste, then headed back to the pen, where I scattered it about. 4 loops and I had all but 3 pullets. those last 3 were a pain, but all in all, they went in fairly quickly. I was pleased. AND on the shortest day of the year, I got FOUR Eggs from the Dome! I saw Blu in the nest this morning, and was so hopeful... sure enough! I got a torpedo shaped olive egg! her second egg since the end of summer! I also got one Marans egg, the white EE Veronica's little brown egg and a blue egg.
so, on this drizzly, warm, misty afternoon... the Fosters first foray caught on camera:

Rotunda the Hen... I kinda wanna keep her.
