Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

you need more pullets... and I need those silly Cochins to start laying!!!!!!!

So I didn't get a perfect egg day for my birthday...but that's alright.

I got 7 eggs today! 6 from the comets and 1 from the EE's.... I will be glad when the other 3 EE's and Bonnie start laying again!

Clyde had a bloody head again this morning.... but then tonight he was chasing the little roos and pulling feathers out. When they were screaming, Rogue came back out of the coop and chased him off and around the run. Clyde was the last one in the coop tonight, and crammed himself in the corner.... I think there is too much testosterone in the coop!

Roger its good to see that you are still alive and kickin'! That is some Christmas list!

Cheeka, beautiful pictures as usual! Do you know when you will find out about the fosters staying or going back home?
My kids totally relate to the numerous grandparents! Both of our parents are divorced, and some of my kids at least met all but 2 of their great-grandparents. They have a Granna, Grammy, Nana, and several granny's.... Then there are Pa Paw's and Pa's... It can get confusing! LOL

I've been asked to keep the Fosters through the second week of January. and I can keep the youngest 5 plus the white hen for sure, but that's 2 more roosters that I don't want, truthfully, I want a few of the older spoiled hens (and the white one, she's sweet). we'll see. I was supposed to see the lady this weekend, and while I still have tomorrow left, I haven't heard from her since last Tuesday.

watching The Wizard of Oz!

Today was the first day of winter. That means the days start getting longer, and that means more eggs!!

Belated happy birthday wishes, Lindz! Scary about the little baby in the accident. My kids are older, and I get on the 12 yr old about sitting and using the seat belt correctly. (He likes to slouch, and the belt ends up around his neck!) Minor accident with the seat belt on wrong can cause more injuries that a properly adjusted one in a head on. When he forgets, I tell him I'm going to strap him to the roof of the car. Hope that mom gets a clue.

My Serama ended up not being broody, darn it anyway. She had just been taking her sweet time laying her egg and was quite indignant about being locked inside while the others were out in the run. Hope someone gets the broody urge soon.

it was so nice out today - mid 60's, dry, bit windy but the sun came out for a bit in the afternoon. I spent most of the day outside with the flock, giving free range in shifts. it was fun and I took lots of pictures. especially of the Cochins. only Zira doesn't look like she's ready to lay.

Delilah looks a little further along

Zelda looks really close

and Josephine... I bet if I squeeze her, she'd drop one...

then there's Esther. she's 5.5 months old. bantam Marans... her LF mates laid by this age.

and the great unknown Sillie Soo... only 4.5 months old. runs with the biggest and baddest of them all. I'm 90% confident on pullet.

zero eggs today. bummer.

the Fosters lady came over tonight, brought me another 100 lbs of feed and some extras like grit and meal worms. she still expects it to take until the 2nd week of January to settle. s'fine.
