Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I watched Penny fall out of the nesting box twice this morning. Is she just goofing off, or did I waste my money? it is the Little Giant Laying Nest that most places sell (TSC, and Fleming Outdoor.Com are 2 places). I have no reason to think there is a problem with the nest since it is so popular. However, I thought I would ask for opinions.
I had to look it up on TS web site to see what you had there. When you say she "fell out" does that mean she was trying to get inside the box and fell? Once inside I don't see how she could fall out. Here is my opinion for what its worth. The "perch" on the front of that nest box looks like it is plastic too and it looks like it is a little close to the opening. Also looks like it would be hard for them to grip the perch with their feet. If thats the case I would find me a nice size stick, a tree limb would be best and wire it to the existing plastic perch. Probably won't need to be over 12" long. Just something to help them grab hold of when the try to get in and out of the box. Chickens have a hard time gripping anything thats smooth like the plastic perch on the front of that nest box. Also if its very high give them something to hop onto first like a log and then it will be a short easy hop into the box for them. Hope that helps

Was I supposed to put it against the wall? She fell out the back.
Kidding!
I think she was goofing off since she uses it the most. She used it yesterday, and today 2 out of 3 eggs have been in there. It is low, maybe 18". Not only is that what I understand to be the recommended height (which leaves me wondering a lot of things), but ... Well, it just works for me.
I do like your idea about the plastic perch. While it shouldn't matter (seriously, the girls can stick their heads in the box. It is low) I do think I will add a better perch. I also thought the perch may be too close. But what do I know? I am a city girl that is still learning.

TWO (so far).... Today we laid TWO!

egg #1 a nice olive green egg laid by ?? it was already there when I got home, probably Blu
egg #2 a nice cream colored egg laid by BETTY, I watched her, sorry ACW no camera, it's raining pretty hard here and I'm stuck on the outside as they have taken over the apple coop for laying their eggs... it's a good spot really... today's green egg was in the nest box of the store bought coop... but the last couple of days and Betty's egg from today have all been in the apple coop.
I might have a brown egg in another hour or so... I'll keep going out to check... I'm pretty soaked and chilly.

So We Need Pie
We won't wait
Get on the ball dad
Before its too late

PUMPKIN....PUMPKIN.....WE WANT OUR PUMPKIN....

I have no blue, but I have cream, I have brown and I have green!
One more egg and I'll have one dozen, C'mon girls my head's a'buzzin!
With recipes that I can make, some I'll fry and some I'll bake!
Meringues and fry up's come to mind, so that's more eggs I need to find!
I've fed you Pie, I've loved you dearly, I do it all, and not just merely....
for all those eggs I want to eat, having you here is really a treat!
You make me happy, you make life grand, it's even better than I had planned!
If the next egg is cream, I'll have 4 of each, the only unknowns are Isis and Peach.
Violet will lay a lovely brown egg ~ when she is ready... I no longer beg.
I won't be unhappy if I get more that are green, but wish for more colors that others have seen
A blue or a pink... from Isis or Peach, it would be so cool if I get one of each!

... only the 2 eggs today, no brown egg, Rose took the day off

hey OK, I picked up a sugar pumpkin on Sunday, it split in half super easy... they went berserk for it and now that it has been picked pretty clean, I used the shells as bowls for kale and all kinds of mixed seeds. I wish the rain would stop... i am missing major photo ops... but i'll get another pumpkin... we have 2 more days of rain in the forecast...

Okay, SOMEONE is laying early, or my EE wasn't told that she is supposed to lay colored eggs. Today I got SIX! Count 'em

6!!
My choices are the two above (the EE is a cross beak I don't think is healthy enough to lay) or someone laid two today. Since 7:00.
The facts are; the babies are 11 weeks old. RIR, BR, Golden Buff, Partridge Rock, and JG.
Cadbury is a 27- week -old EE
I have been getting a small egg again
Penny has been laying for 2 months, and stopped giving small eggs (like this) after one month.
EE can lay light brown/tan, but these are USUALLY medium brown.
This has been going on for a week
I would feel like garbage if Cadbury was laying, and I hadn't celebrated.
I am really confused, but REALLY happy.
