Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Couple more inches of snow but warming up to about 34 degrees. Pop doors open and a few have ventured outside. Five eggs so far. BOSS and scratch for breakfast. 40 tomorrow. Love the heatwave. Monday it is back to frozen hell.

You think like me.

Hmmmm... this could take some planning.

I hear ya Whoops... Penny is the only layer right now and she has been inconsistent with gifting eggs. I fed them some scrambled eggs this morning. They chowed down on that!

I guess that I expect a little more from them because when I had the 2 Red sex link hens... I got a consistent number of eggs everyday. Even in the winter, but... the two RSL are now dead. They barely made it to 2 years old and passed within 5 months of each other. The BSL that I have is still alive , but she is not real consistent with eggs and takes winter breaks. So maybe there is a trade off. I do love my girls and want them to live a long and happy life. An egg every now and then would be nice too.

I have 29 hens and am getting any were from 16 to 22 eggs a day never have got 29, it is snowing again here, my poor chicks have not been out since last sunday, you can not see the house 200ft away for how the wind is blowing the snow, Delaware has never had weather like this, and as cold as it has been, I am in south Delaware. near the shore.

Poor rooster has frostbite on his comb. Hope the big guy will be OK.
