Quote: Agree....results will happen based on pie consumption with best results occurring with a ratio of a 2:1 pies per day.The first one needs to be presented to them in the morning between the first and second crow of the rooster. If you have no rooster a hen will assume the role of sounding the "WE NEED PIE" alarm that is often mistaken for a woman desperately screaming for her life and progressively getting worse every passing minute that the pie is late. Be warned that "Pie Method" to promote egg production is not reversible but has been a popular, successful, and proved method by "Pie People" I don't recommend the "Raccoon Costume " in the middle of the night. Good Luck and keep us posted.

it's a perfect day for January 1st, 2013! I had 5 eggs first thing this morning, and when I got home from work, Peach had laid hers and one of the Reds was in the nest box, getting kinda dark, so I couldn't see the color of the leg band of the one on the roost ~ should've brought the flashlight... 20 minutes later, she's up on the roost too and egg #7 was warm and waiting!

Last night was incredible, lobster supper with brown rice, broccoli, mushrooms and onions added to the rice for flavor and to get all the veggies done in one pot

and a huge salad with half an avocado just for me! A Mudslide for the evening apperatif also served to satisfy the chocolate/dessert needs... with all that rich food and drink... I fell asleep at 10:45...

worked today... had Albany, Schenectedy and Greene counties, lots of driving, but it was a nice day, upper 20's, sunny, light wind. couple of heavy parcels, but eh... it was a good day at double time... JUST finished cooking the prime rib for another extravagent supper, and the broiler died. bake burner already died, now the stove top is the only part left that works. time for a new oven. there goes the double time pay for the day... but dinner was spectacular!

the chicks are really growing, shame on me for not getting pictures at all for the last week! I'm seeing some really nice feathers coming in, the yellow chick is turning white, and appears to be rumpless. there is another light brown that is rumpless. no feather pulling either, the rest have really nice almost 2 inch long tails already. tomorrow is the day. I have the day OFF! I have to put them in a bigger crate, it will be a good time to get update shots. and I can spend a few hours with the gang... I've missed them so much... it will be so nice to just chill out and work on the dome, rake some snow off the top, clean up around the outside, commune with the birds, make them Pie and pancakes.

Sounds like an AWESOME spread!!!! I got hungry just reading it! Can't wait to see the pictures. My oldest DD is off friday maybe she will help me get some too.

I got my ladies as an early Xmas present and they are now 24 weeks (been with us for 7 weeks) still no eggs ! I told my husband he couldn't have a fry up until there was an egg but i caved in and bought some when I needed to make a birthday cake (he got his fry up). Has anyone tried putting a bought egg in the nest to encourage them or is it more likely to scare them ? (they are bantams and bought eggs are not

and best of luck, hope the babies will lay for you soon. I had to get ceramic eggs, and i just leave them in there now. have 4 nest boxes and 4 ceramic eggs. Mine took forever to start too, and the short days don't help a bit either. Golf balls do work too, but my guineas think that they are theirs!!! they go broody and physco every time i use them.

I plan to take the ceramic eggs out soon, my australops will be next on the waiting list around April 30th...
