Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Her cheeka, replace the element for a fraction of the cost, easy to do, jut make sure you flip the breaker off before messing with it. I thought I needed a new oven, but we took the front panel off, determined the chip was bad due to discoloration, put it back together and it worked fine...no new stove in my immediate future. Which, all the gas ovens work off electric controls...go figure. Got t find a reconditoned commercial one. I guess we need to knit roger some tiny booties. Ha.

I have yet to look for replacement parts, the stove is at least 17 years old, which is not too bad, I mostly use the stove top anyway, so that's why i've not been in a hurry to fix it... but, without a broiler, it's more immediate...
french toast for breakfast this morning, soaked in those marvelous eggs!

Quote: No I will only be the proud recipient of a egg. No roosters here. Roger makes a big deal out of everything. Even laying a egg. Would you girls like to give her a shower?
Am I missing something? Are all of us? What the heck are you talking about?
My stove is 60 or so years old. Got a new heating element for the oven last year. It was $30 with shipping/handling.

with no egg from Penny yet. Even more new layers!!!
I know I have a BR, Partridge Rock, JG and Columbian Rock cross laying. Going by combs, it is the RIR , Ameraucanas and Red Stars not laying. I thought RS were supposed to lay early?
I know Penny isn't laying because after three months, she is not going to start laying on the floor or small eggs. Then again, I am finding ... Oh, good grief!

I have had a funny looking egg for 2 days. The first one had a little blood in it. I also had two cracked eggs in the roosting room today. Different times. No one has laid there until now, and I am wondering if they are not new today layers. One looks like it was laid from the roost, and the other like she was sitting on the cinder block for the waterer.
Bummed about the cracked eggs. Ecstatic about all the eggs!

A shower sounds like a great idea. My white Leghorn is partly brown with all this mud and really needs a shower. Do they sell chicken shampoo?

Don't know that the sexlinks necessarily start early, but once they do start, you get get loads of big eggs. My Ameraucana (not EE) took longer to start, and am still waiting for one. She keeps teasing me by going into the nest boxes. Blood in the eggs of new layers is not uncommon, but it is a little yucky. Dogs love 'em. My little Grace (the special needs Welsummer) who started a few weeks ago, has been pretty consistent, but her eggs are still quite small. Lately, her eggs have had two flat sides.

Hopefully this is just a pullet thing, and there is nothing wrong. Come spring, you'll have eggs coming out your ears!!!

Nice MC! gotta be great to have all those eggs! for the last week I have 39 eggs. so after the french toast breakfast, I hard boiled a bunch to add some to potato salad, and some to just have to munch on... bit hard to peel, as they are soooo fresh, but wow... so tasty! the eggs used for the french toast were fabulous! the hugest yolks of such orange color, lovely!

alas, I never did get photos of the chicks today. I need to take pics of a bunch of things outside as well. tomorrow perhaps... man I've got to get organized again... but I did a bunch of housework today and feel really good about that. lots cleaner! I seem to run out of time everyday... and i did spend quite a bit of time outside with the gang this morning. everyone is doing great, despite the bone chilling cold. it was 9 degrees this morning, -8 with the wind chill...
