Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Quote: You should have let all of your chickens in the house to pick up the crumbs and when they were done ask DH ..."Is that clean enough to suit you or do I need to get some more chickens"

And then DH's dog can go around and clean up the deposits left by the chickens. Win-win!

ROFL I love you guys, you always make me smile!

We laid 2 goose eggs and 4 chicken eggs, man are the goose eggs YUMMMMMY! So incredibly thick, the yolk you can put a fork into the raw yolk and lift it before it starts to leak out! am 98% convinced i have only 1 gander out of the 6 geese. Nothing out of my ducks yet....My 3 GLW and 1 BR are my regular layers with the chickens, I have "spied" enough to figure out that the EE and the CX aren't laying. Will give them a little more time and then they are probably going to go to the freezer. The EE is so pretty, she is the buff with blue in her tail feathers. She is just so hateful and timid. I feel bad for her, she just doesn't seem to have had much love, and she wants no part of people now, but I keep trying. The CX are both sweethearts, but they eat a LOT. LilX has almost caught up to Tank, she is really getting big! Bacon will not let her ride on his back anymore. Think she is too heavy

i DID IT! I ordered my Lavender Orpingtons, should arrive early march

We also ordered 20 "meat turkeys" the BBW from Meyer. My Little australorps are just precious, I have to get new pictures. Will be getting my first "milking goat" next week from a member on the Indiana thread. She's a Nigerian Dwarf named Miss Sue.

AL, sounds like a great day all around, and nice that you'll have a fun weekend to boot!

jch, yummmm goat milk products! cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeese..... I wish I had more outbuildings for more animals... and more time in every day to get it all done...

the forecasters have adjusted the storm warming somewhat. I'm now in the 16-24" band. today will be no problem, it's tomorrow. well, tomorrow night into Saturday morning in particular. the wind will be so gusty, they keep saying that the snow will blow back onto the roads, but Sunday will be sunny and dry, which is good. I am working on Sunday... Saturday will be a pain, but I'm on my short route, and have lots of time to get it done without worrying about missing the truck. even if I stop my car at every stop in the middle of the road, and walk the mail to every box... I'll make it, but being Saturday, most folks will be home and starting the big clean out. I just hope I can get in my driveway at the end of the day... my neighbor often comes and scoops out the load that the plow dumps at the end. then I can spend the rest of the day on the John Deere.

long long day today. I'm ready for it...

The old hens don't lay often. I might get one or two eggs a week from them. They are soon to be part of freezer camp. Lol. I am going to get more chicks this spring. Some will be EE and I want to get some meat birds

I'm too big of a wimp to chop 'em.    Either that, or I'm just not hungry enough!  I like my EE quite a bit.

So, White Laced Wyandotte... Woohoo, I guessed it!  What is the base color? I've seen buff with white lacing a lot on Polish.  Have you seen BLRW? blue laced red Wyandottes. They're really purdy.

Mine is just black and white. No other colors. She was given to me last Summer as a chick. Had to go buy 2 more chicks so she wouldn't get abused. 2 BO. I can't wail till I can get more chicks. This time I want EE.

Chicken math. Gotta love it!

My hubby doesn't understand chicken math. He figures just let me do cause at least this way he knows what I am up too. Not out running the roads. Lol. He thinks it is funny cause it is the little things that make me happy. LITTLE CHICKS. LOL

5 eggs today, and it was gorgeous out... figures, awesome sunny day and I'm stuck on a 100 mile route that takes all day...got home within a half hour of dark. it was nice to spend a little daylight time with the big gang... make sure all the vinyl is secure, I have time tomorrow to work on things, short day and the storm isn't supposed to get bad til mid afternoon, and I'll be home by then, so I should be able to keep up with the snow blowing. they've increased us back up to 20" minimum. should be fun! it's supposed to be powdery, so it's not so great for building snow creations, but it's awesome for everything else...

got a few pictures today, will try to get them uploaded tonight, scenery from the route, icicles on the mountainside... but really only took 3-4 pictures total, hope they are good... tomorrow it will all look completely different.

11 eggs again today. I guess with it going "8, 12, 12, 10, 8..." before, 11 several days in a row isn't too disappointing. I wonder if all 13 brown layers are laying now. I should check them.
The weather varies here. One report is saying I might get like 4" total. The other has gone from less than an inch to about 1.5". Just enough to be cold and annoying.
