Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Paddy is so precious, oh my! This is my first newborn goose, ever! I always took in everyone's throwaways, my geese from last year were almost a month old. He is snuggled up in my sweater right now

Sorry your other eggs have quit. It always amazes me when something is born or hatches, especially when you know all that is involved with the process, and all that can go wrong. Kind of like a little miracle when it works!
What breed is Paddy? Hopefully a friendly kind!

I have been asking about Donut's split feathers on another thread and so far no one knows for sure. Don't think he is frizzled because the feather shafts would be curling and his are fairly regular. The splitting is not a good thing, weak feathers that don't provide much protection against wind and cold. Have heard that after the first molt, his feathers may grow in normally. Keeping our fingers crossed, but he may not be one for breeding anyway. He's also got a crooked comb! (Although I was told not to worry about that as yet.)

He's a keeper, though, because Mustacheio is attached to him. These guys at 4 weeks are so small. 2 make barely a handful.

W4W, they are just way too cute.

we have almost a foot of fresh snow. 4 inches by this morning, 4 inches during the day and 4 more since I got home. work wasn't as bad as it could have been. the roads weren't too bad, and I've delivered in much worse. tomorrow will be the hard day, sloppy... but lucky me! I'm on my own little route. I did a 91 mile route today, the heaviest volume of mail like I haven't seen in years over the past 2 days! wish it would last... I remember back when I started, some big routes had so much mail, it was a normal day to have like 20 feet of letters and 15 feet of magazines. then tons of parcels. those routes today have an average of 8 feet of letters, and 5 feet of magaizines... still tons of parcels... up here in the sticks, it's easier to order stuff than to travel to buy it...

I moved the wee gang into the dome tonight! two by two, and placed them on a roost in the front of the dome. the big gang roosts in the back of the dome. so far so good, all's quiet. I'll get up early and spend some time out there to see how much squabbling will go on. I'll come armed with lots of Pie, with liberal sprinkling of sunflower seeds. I know I promised Pie when the grass is visible... but why should they have to wait another MONTH before getting PIE??? I can't believe it's still snowing. should have another couple of inches by morning. it won't melt til May.

4 eggs. still no RIR eggs. and I didn't find anything on my quick search, however... the the EE and BR eggs were almost buried in the nest of the apple coop, actually, one of them really was buried. so... I have to dig around tomorrow afternoon.

Wow, Cheeka, that sounds like a lot of snow. I've been waiting for rain all day, and it is finally starting to spit a little bit. Hope we get enough to wash the pollen out of the trees (and off the car). The big live oak out front is going crazy. I put a buch of straw out in the run and was thinking that I might have to go on an egg hunt out there, but so far they're still using the boxes. 8 today and my EE with gargling respiratory thingy is sounding clear after only 2 days on the Denagard. Good stuff.

Hope the new gang gets along with the old gang. There's enough of them and enough roos so nobody should get singled out for trouble. Pie will help, of course. Good you have an easy day tomorrow. Take care on those slippery roads. Snow until May?

Ugh isn't this terrible! Its still miserable windy cold, at least no rain or snow next few days

Cheeka, i don't know how you tolerate the snow so well. I think its pretty, but a few months I am almost stir crazy from it. I get cold so fast! Hope the wee gang does ok, I think when you do a large group at once it helps a lot. I plan to move all the "Reds babies" out with my big flock when they are feathered. there's 3 BR/GLW babies now. So far only 1 EE, the rest are the GLW girls babies. Any past my first hatch will be sold, I am getting way too many babies

My DD's are arguing with me but I told them, Who wants to but the feed for 100 birds? we are getting close to that mark now!
OHH, promise will get the newest hatch, including my Paddy's pictures posted tonight! What a sweet little thing
