Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

OK - get the stick on fingernail designs from the dollar store. I'm sure they'll stick really nice to feathers!

while you're there, pick up some neon green nail polish, or better yet, the purple with the glitter in it... so you can do their talons. Roger's Marilyn Monroe birthmark can be made with a Sharpee marker, right on the side of her beak. over in the party aisle, you can get Mardi Gras beads...

Probably the dam post office ". Bills arrive perfectly on time. Track your packages and you will know where they are. Your trash bill is...........in the trash of course so stop expecting to find it in the mailbox. LOL......just messin with ya MC. Call them if you have not received them. And leave a dozen eggs in the mailbox.

good deal OK, the ones I got are double layered, really durable, they fit well (sized for Peach) and they work. glad you found some on ebay, the place I got mine is louisescountrycloset.com

$12 for 4 with shipping included.

there is only 1 egg, and it's out of reach. the Wee's have taken over. the Big's are not happy. oh well!

the Wee's have stationed themselves in both coops. they roost in the apple coop at night, and hang out in both coops during the day. I should probably get a few more nesting boxes for the interior of the dome.
Thats where I buy mine too!

I'm tellin' ya, she's not gonna stop until she gets that tiara. Pick one that sets off the glitter in the nail polish. Ooo, and a princess outfit!

I could go on. It's what comes from having boys and never getting to go down the pink aisle in the store.

Okay I feel like I cheated somehow. Life has been crazy and hectic with a ten month old walking and a five year old in school. So I was surprised the other day while doing my weekly cleaning and refreshing to find six eggs in the right place. One was really large and the other normal looking. Soo now I'm wondering who is doing it and when etc. so I cleared the bin out and waited a few hours....that evening I went out and found another ( we ate the six immediately, it happened to be on last Sunday and had family over so we all got an egg...my father a double yolk) so I got seven total that day. Next day two...following day two. I know the BR is for sure laying, her hind quarters look like it...she's really red on her face and head. So next I'm guessing my RIR but not really sure. I have one that is supposed to be an Ancona but I can't for some reason imagine her laying an egg...just because she's smaller...she has this really large comb that is pink. Anyways I figured I'd ask you guys for suggestions on determining who is laying. Besides Lucy I don't really see anyone that looks like it on the undercarriage area. I was so happy but still waiting for a "colored" egg. That will have me over the moon. My EE and I had a long talk today about it. Maybe for Easter? Lol

P.s. no eggs today.
Best wishes all.

and I just checked to find out that ancona's lay white eggs...so not her ....
Congratulations on the eggs, Sally! It's not cheating, it's just sooooo much easier to take care of chickens than kids (especially toddlers!), that it feels like cheating.

So if you got 7 eggs in one day and you have 8 possible layers (from your sig line) then it's more a case of who's not laying. Not the Ancona because no white egg. Are you sure the eggs were all laid on the same day? It may be that your EE is laying a brown egg. Hope not. The green eggs are so pretty.

I don't think there is a definitive way to know who is laying except by process of elimination or to catch them in the act. Some will start squatting, and some get grumpy. Some get friendly and some start walking funny.

If you are desperately curious, I have heard of folks putting a drop of food dye in the vent. You can color code them!

BR eggs will be a cream color egg. RIR will be a darker brown egg. EE will be the colored eggs. I can't tell by looking at them who is laying and who is not. I have a large BO that has almost no comb and she lays almost every day.
