Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

5 eggs today, another 2 nice pullet eggs in bright blue green... love it!

we had such a major storm last night! torrential downpour, and the branch I used to hold up the big tarp over the boys pens snapped... the tarp had so much water sagging it down I thought it would implode and kill Royce. I was outside before bed to poke holes in the tarp so it could drain... it was like being in the shower. water pouring into my eyes... so hard to see, but they made it through the night. I have a design for shelter boxes for them, and will pick up the sheets of plywood tomorrow after work. I will make them 4'x4' , with roosts a few inches off the ground... they need options, and some protection from the wind... which was whipping hard all day long. it was so cold and nasty, by the time I got my chores done, I had to call it quits. I only took 2 pictures of the girls... never got back outside to take more.
I invited my cousin up to hang out, which was nice. we had scrambled eggs for lunch and I made a big feast for supper ~ I love my new stove! ~ chicken thighs, peas and carrots, applesauce and baked potatoes. we took a ride downtown in the evening and got milkshakes. I'm so stuffed that I am afraid to bed over to untie my shoes!

my alien ducks are back! and there is a second pair as well. hard to get a good pic as they are quite tiny and tend to swim to the opposite side of the pond when I am around...

I have the laundry "done". It is in baskets and a load is still sitting in the dryer. But it is washed and dried.
I raked out the 2 tons of stone I got today. It arrived soon after I finally showered. It looks pretty good!
The rooms are all cleaned up. I need to clean up the mail table, but that shouldn't take long.
The dishes are done
The porch is cleaned up
I made more FF after getting ticked about not remembering which was chick, which was layer.
I watered the plants
I played, "who ate my egg?!?!" in the coop. Still don't know, but I am not worried. For all the eggs laying around, I doubt it is common.
I did a bunch of other crap I cannot remember. As a woman, I can do a million things, and think nothing of it. If I weren't so worried about the house looking good, I wouldn't have thought about 99% of the above.
OH! I filled in the holes in the sidewalk with sand. The cistern was filled improperly, and there are 3 dips. It is annoying twisting an ankle or falling into when it is dark, or you are not paying attention. Sand is getting tracked around, but it is better than getting hurt!
I got ... Eggs!
I just checked. 14 eggs. Poor dog. I meant to feed him, and forgot. Worse, IDK how long he was out of water.

OH I think they are "Wood Ducks" smaller, very pretty breed, and almost look too pretty to be real. Hard to tell that far off, I could be wrong.

they are Hooded Merganser's...
“Hooded” is something of an understatement for this extravagantly crested little duck. Adult males are a sight to behold, with sharp black-and-white patterns set off by chestnut flanks. Females get their own distinctive elegance from their cinnamon crest. Hooded Mergansers are fairly common on small ponds and rivers, where they dive for fish, crayfish, and other food, seizing it in their thin, serrated bills. They nest in tree cavities; the ducklings depart with a bold leap to the forest floor when only one day old.

Neat huh? I love them, so funny looking... but yeah, we have wood ducks too, and most varieties are a lot bigger than these guys... these ducks are really small...

MC you have your hands full. It gets overwelming sometimes doesn't it! My pug is the most patient dog, she gets tended to last. She gets dibs on moms extra pillow at bedtime tho!
Cheeka, hope you get this nicer weather in a day or so, that storm was just awful, dumped a lotta rain here too.
It was nice today, chilly but the sun was warm. Finally no rain! puddles everywhere, the ducks and geese LOVE it. My little buckling gets to come home tomorrow. Can't wait to get him here! Going to have DH take pics with his snazzy new phone. Still no Guinea eggs. I am almost ready to give up on them. We have been clearing the old pasture and disposing of YEARS of my Dads old mowers, car parts, scrap metal type stuff. Gaining a lot of pasture space. Another Incident with Red today, he actually bit my oldest on the leg

then started clawing and kicking her! He is now housed in a big metal dog kennel. She is like me, doesn't scare her just makes her hoppin mad.. I will give him a week of time out, them I guess we will see how he acts. I finally found sausage casings tonight, maybe making "Red" chicken pepperoni next week

Like my Red, yours sounds too far gone.
I find myself watching out for Rocky the RIR. He looks like Red. Red was a Production Red.
I got weak a minute ago, and candled. I can't believe there is really a chick in there! It was awesome!

Mergansers are so pretty. I've always wished I lived near a pond to be able to duck watch. Very peaceful.

We got 8 eggs today. The Seramas have been going out in the chicken yard inside a little run during the day. The big girls come over for inspection time and they are monstrously large by comparison. (Like a scene from Jurassic Park.) Some of the hens are determined to get to the little ones, at least that's what I thought until I realized they were actually interested in the chicks' food! Can't let the little ones loose because I'm sure they'd be hawk lunch in no time. The little rooster is definitely rooish, and has been from early on. He calls his girl over to eat and tries to get her to come sit in the nest that he scratched out of the straw in their cage. Her comb is still small and pale, so not much interest in that department. Tonight, they were sleeping in the straw rather than roosting like usual. I turned off their heat lamp last night, so maybe they got a bit cold. They need to get used to it!

I wish we would get a bit more rain, but sounds like you have been getting way too much. Hope it dries out for ya. Going to be 80* again here tomorrow. Too hot for me.

I know its coming. Just so disappointing, he has made so many beautiful chicks. He was so friendly and just affectionate, hormones STINK. But the last thing I need here is an aggressive rooster.
I will have my brother over to do it. If he can't then I will! Am also looking at who ever else here needs to go... My gander is really pushing his luck too. Laying season will end soon for the geese.. He is pretty aggressive and has gotten real good at bruising ankles, drawing blood on just about anything that breathes

I am so worried about both of them going after Mom or Dad. Love my birds but Mean ones cannot stay. This last week, the boys are not getting out as much, I just can't trust them to behave.
I love the last candle before lock down, its just amazing to see that little life breathing and moving in there. I have a big hatch due Wednesday, am not setting any more once the bators clear out till late summer. The scovies take 5 weeks

We usually camp and fish a lot, fill up the freezer during the summer. I am so ready to be fishing, and not worrying for a 2 days a week. My oldest cares for my mom so I can take breaks during the summer.
