Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

120! Holy fluffy butts, Batman! I didn't realize you were such an extreme hatchaholic. Maybe because you don't show enough pictures. (HInt hint!!) What's your favorite breed?

hmmmmm... I have to admit I love my brown chinese geese the best. But the chickens, The BR's are super healthy strong babies, so snuggly too, they love being held. I wish I had some heritage BR, my one girl was a give up someone handed me. My camera is soo crappy! Makes me so mad. Thats still top of my wish list, maybe mothers day...

LOL sad part I guess is they are really mutts, cause Red is the daddy to all the BR chicks! Whats funniest, the all have his comb, and so far, every last one is a ROOSTER

*sigh* still no eggs!!! BR and RIR are clucking away. With no care in the world. They are almost 5 months old! They aren't from a hatchery, so imagine they will hold out for 6 months. *sigh, pout, whimper*

What are you going to do with the roosters? There is a support thread for processing.

That's exactly what we will be doing. I will keep my first 2 boys (spoiled rotten babies), and then the rest will be for the freezer unless sold. I am going to start looking for a new GLW rooster tho, my darling Red has started showing an evil side, and has attacked almost everyone here at some point in the last 2 weeks. He slammed into my leg a few days ago and actually spurred me. Drew blood, poked a hole oh what a mistake! I turned around to see what hit my leg, and there he was, Puffed out, every hackle raised! He got the toe of my boot in his chest. DH Held him upside down by his feet, I thought for sure he was going to end it right then and there! So Reds days are numbered, I cannot risk him going after my mom or dad

. My brother, DH and DDs have both had run ins, and yesterday he went after my future SIL. I will give him a time out before he finds the soup pot, but its not looking good at all. So my hunt begins, I may just replace him with one of the LO roos, I have about 5 in the group! My main coop is the "egg pen" anyways so its not breed specific

I also have a true amercauna. I don't think she will ever lay! But she is only 5 months, toolol. And I have a SS that's 3 months. I'm tempted to buy a hen that's already laying lol.
LOL no true Amercuana, I have the EE, just one. She didn't lay til early this year. I got her as a full grown pullet last fall, guessing she was at least 6 months old. She came with the BR, and was a freebee. She gave me 1 good egg and one gel egg last fall and stopped. I was convinced she would NEVER lay

Then suddenly, boom! Daily now, nice large bluish green egg. And Every one I put in the incubator has hatched, so she has really turned around. I think its just each birds internal clock that decides when.
